I was sitting at my desk thinking about what Agent Williams just told me: The UnSub that killed my daughter knows me. I grew up in this town, it could be anybody who still lives here, which I don't think many people moved.

Beep beep. My phone went off. I checked to see and was stopped in my tracks when the screen read 'New message from Unknown number'. Please tell me this isn't starting again I thought to myself.

I opened the message and read: Heard about that girl, Riley. Whoever killed her made my life easier.

"Detective Towning? Are you alright?" I looked up from my phone to see Agent Williams standing in front of me holding a cup of coffee. "You look freaked out."

"I got another text," I said quietly.

"From the UnSub?" He asked. I nodded my head and handed him my phone.

"Who's Riley?" He asked me.

"She's a girl who just got murdered recently. We thought it was the serial killer but after the autopsy, it was determined that it was someone different."

"And you're working that case?"

"Yes."

"May I see the case file?"

I pulled Riley Connor's case file out of the middle drawer in my desk and handed it to him.

"I'll get you a profile as soon as possible." He said and walked away, taking my phone with him.

I didn't care that he took my phone. At this point, he could do more than I could. He could respond to the UnSub and build a bigger profile. Besides, after this, I'm buying a new phone anyway, with a new number.

I buried my face in my hands when Alex asked me "is it true?"

"Is what true?" I asked him quizzically.

"That you know the UnSub." He paused before adding on, "the one who keeps texting you."

"According to Agent Williams, yes I know him. But I don't know who it is."

"Well do you know anyone who fits the profile? Confident, a job where he has control, doesn't care about anyone, including children." Alex recited the profile back to me as if I couldn't remember it myself.

"The chief. And I don't believe he would kill anyone."

"You never know. And he has your cell phone number, it wouldn't be too hard for him to text you."

"Detectives, we have a complete profile ready for every UnSub." Detective Smith was standing outside the conference room.

"Every UnSub?" Alex asked me putting emphasis on the word "every".

"I got another text and he mentioned Riley. I gave agent Williams my phone and he has been talking to that UnSub along with both agents looking over that case." I told him in one breath, out of breath by the time I finished.

"Riley's case may be connected to the serial case?" Alex questioned

"Possibly. Now let's go, they're waiting for us."

We sat down in the spots when we had first met the FBI agents, both of them directly across from Alex and I.

"Agent Williams and I have looked over all three cases and have a profile on each UnSub." The older agent spoke. "The first UnSub, the one murdering all the girls, he is not confident. He doesn't enjoy the killing which is why he chooses a quick method. He is killing because he feels he needs to, he has a reason. His reason most likely was acquired when he was 15. And while I am using the pronoun 'he', it does not mean this

UnSub is male. The gender of this UnSub is undetermined at the moment."

Agent Williams took over for the profile of the second UnSub.

"The UnSub Agent Smith just profiled has a partner, our second UnSub. This UnSub is definitely male. He is extremely confident, based on the fact that he is contacting the head detective. Because he demanded information, we assume that he is partners with the first UnSub. This guy enjoys the kill and wants to make it last as long as possible. He accomplishes this by torturing his victims." The agent looked a bit horrified as he said that. "This guy probably has a job where he has power over people. Also, he knows you, detective Towning." He was talking to me, but I already knew that he knows me. If only I knew who he was.

"Our third and final UnSub is Riley Connor's killer." Agent Smith spoke again. "The UnSub left the crime scene after the killing and came back with the victim's letterman's jacket. This indicates that the UnSub cares about Riley deeply. This was a quick kill; the UnSub stabbed the victim in the lung and the victim fell back onto a rock, causing the blunt force trauma to her head. The victim's lung filled up with blood and she died. The fact that the victim was stabbed states that the UnSub already had the knife on them. This murder was premeditated. The UnSub stabbed the lung. The UnSub knew to pass the knife between the ribs. This UnSub knows about the human anatomy. This UnSub is meticulous. They planned out every detail in their head, killing Riley, where it would happen, how it would happen." He paused long enough for me to think of the one suspect in this case who fit this profile. They cared about Riley but still killed her. They knew where to put the body so that it wouldn't be found. They knew enough about the human anatomy to know where and how to stab Riley.

"I know who killed Riley." I blurted out.
