"You look awful," Leigh said as soon as she saw Jason walk into the elevator. He gave her a slight glare as he passed the doors and they shut behind him. "Someone shoot down your DS-1 Orbital Battle Station?" She snickered.

Jason scoffed, looking at Leigh. "The first thing you'd think with the swollen eyes, runny nose, or the bags under the eyes is that someone shot down my Death Star?" He asked with a wave of his hand gesturing over his face. He was amused and curious. Leigh usually avoided him and barely never talked to him. He, of course, didn't engage with her either, not that he didn't want to, he just never had the guts.
She was stunning.

"All of it. You look like you fought a Sith and lost." She sputtered, pulling her hair behind her ear.

He looked right at Leigh before her eyes widened and she cupped her mouth- the comment finally registered in her brain.

It wasn't how she usually talked to her boss, if she did at all.

"Sorry." She whispered, but still sputtered an awkward chuckle. "I don't know where that came from."

"Well, you're not wrong." Jason said, the memory of Elizabeth's cat came to mind. He always woke up to the cat right next to him, something he loathed, wishing it could be his fiancé but it never was.

"You hitting Comic-Con this weekend?" She really wanted to ask him about why he looked so horrible, but decided to let it go and ask Bailey later.

"Sadly, no." Jason sighed. It was his first con that he was going to miss on purpose, not that it was his idea. It was actually Elizabeth's idea. After the fiasco with the wedding cakes and her missing his mother's birthday, things had been tense. Elizabeth felt that the answer would be that they could go on a staycation to ease the tensions. But she really just wanted to go to that hotel and check out the spa and possibly any available viable spots for the wedding.

He would most likely spend the day in the hotel room watching golf or something equally punishing while she got pampered.

"Oh?" She took a sharp intake of breath as the elevator moved quickly upward. "You never miss the conventions."

"Yeah, there's just no time with the wedding coming up."

Leigh couldn't help but notice how his face scowled as he spoke. She was going to really need Bailey after this conversation. "That's right. I forgot you were getting married. When is the special date?"

Jason visibly stiffened. "May 4th of this year."

"May the fourth be with you," Leigh snickered. "You seem like you are going to need it." She cupped her mouth as his face darted towards hers in shock. "Sorry! I mean awesome date. You'd think you're conversing with a normal human with such capabilities and I am here just spewing my crazy all over you." She wiped her small hand at his jacket to emphasize her crazy getting on him and his eyes went to the motion.

She stopped with a huff. "Sorry."

He was amused. She was personable and funny, even if she was a little self depreciating.  Even though he never really talked to her, he had noticed her around the office. It was impossible not to notice her. There just wasn't time to communicate with the others and he didn't really feel up to it. They all did their job and conversed only when needed, usually.

"You're fine." He said simply.

"You think I'm fine. Likewise."

"What?" Jason turned to look at her, trying to figure out if she just said what he thought she said.

"Nothing," She whispered. "I'm mostly normal in public, I promise, well usually- sporadically. I am almost normal. Why won't this elevator move faster?"
