I was confused. Very, very confused. I looked at Hesekiel's angry face and Twyla's horrified one.
"Why are you here?" Hesekiel shouted angrily at Twyla. Then he looked at Jason and me, "Why did you bring her here?" He said 'her' as if Twyla carried a fatal and contagious disease.
"Woah, woah, woah!" Twyla said to us, "you brought me to Boss-boy?"
I laughed and Jason looked like he was trying very hard not to smile. Hesekiel turned into a tomato.
"And why do you call me that?" Hesekiel said, obviously annoyed.
Twyla smirked, "Because you bossed everyone around and yelled when I wouldn't follow what you asked."
Hesekiel turned redder, (If that's even possible,) and was about to shut the door, when Jason said:
"Hey, wait," Hesekiel paused, still looking embarrassed, "we need your help. We need to get to the portal."
Hesekiel raised an eyebrow, "And why would I help a Demon?"
"Hey!" I yelled, unable to stop myself, "She's a person you know!"
Everyone raised their eyebrows except Twyla. She seemed unsurprised. Actually, Twyla looked pale, (than usual, I mean.) Her eyes were disoriented and bored.
"Alright, alright," Hesekiel said, "I'll held you two, but I'm not helping the Demon."
Twyla's eyes were turning a venomous purple color and her mouth opened to reveal purple, wispy smoke. She spoke in an inhuman voice that made my blood go cold.
"Ifff you don't heeelp herrrr ssshee wiiilll nevveerrr sssee himmm agaain! Ssheee willl die annnd haauuunnt yyoou! Hheeelp hheerr!" I couldn't move, but I could see in the corner of my eye that Hesekiel's skin was like the moon's.
"A-alright," he said, trembling and terrified, "I-I'll help."
I felt paralyzed as she smiled and said, "Goood." Then collapsed and Jason caught her. I still couldn't move, but then Hesekiel shook me and said, "C-come inside." Jason nodded and my body moved without thinking. I went inside the familiar house without my thoughts. I literally couldn't think.
"U-um," Hesekiel said, still trembling, "Set the Demon over there." He pointed to the couch on the far side of the room.
"Ok," Jason said calmly. I was surprised of how calm he seemed and how he could even speak. This feeling brought me back into reality.
"U-um," I said finally, "Do you two know what that was?" They both shook their heads. I finally got my thoughts back in order and started to investigate what just happened.
"Why in all Heavens did you bring a Demon to my house?" Hesekiel asked, obviously mad, "We're all going to die!"
"Calm down," Jason said, still calm, "We have to figure out why that happened."
"Sure, sure," Hesekiel said with a tomato for a face, "but as soon as I help you with one favor, she will never come back here, right?" Jason nodded. "Good. Now, what did she say again? Something about 'never seeing him again'? Who's 'him'?"
"No idea," Jason and I said simultaneously. Sometimes I feel as though we think the same, even though we are only half-brothers.
Hesekiel nodded, "Do you think the Demon meant to do that? You know, to scare me?"
I immediately shook my head. I definitely didn't think that Twyla would ever do that. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. If Twyla didn't do it, who else would? And how? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
"Well," Hesekiel said, "I did read something about Demons possessing one another if having the power to do so, but who would do that?"
I definitely don't know Twyla, I thought, who, in any world would want to possess her?
Suddenly, Twyla woke up with a groan. Hesekiel jumped and Jason and I both gave a sigh of relief.
"What in all Undergrounds happened?" Twyla asked with after a long groan, "I feel as though my mind was hit by a truck."
"D-demon," Hesekiel said, obviously frightened, "you will have t-to leave im-immediately."
Twyla looked confused, "Why? I mean, I know you hate me and all, but I just got here! And I don't even know why! Tell me, Boss-boy, why am I here?"
Hesekiel paled. He was obviously scared out of his usual wits of her. I had to admit, I kind of felt for him. Twyla could be scary if she wanted to be.
"We think something possessed you," Jason said reassuringly, "Do you have any idea who that might be?"
While Hesekiel tried to protest, Twyla thought for a while. For what seemed like hour, (but were probably only, like, five seconds,) she responded with: "I don't know. What did I do?"
I mentally slapped myself for anticipating that she would know something. Of course she wouldn't.
"Um," Jason said, ignoring Hesekiel's pleading eyes, "You said something along the lines of 'you will help her or you will live with her haunting you for the rest of your days!'" He imitated her in a ghostly voice.
I laughed. Jason had a really good sense of humor sometimes. Twyla was smiling. "Well," She said, "I can see your sense of humor doesn't fail you now." Jason bowed and Hesekiel fumed, but was still to scared to say anything. "Anything else?"
"Um," I said, "I think you said 'If you don't help her she will never see him again'? Who's him?"
Twyla looked confused, "There's only one person I can think of, and he's dead. It might be someone trying to confuse me or trick me. I can't believe someone would try to trick the trickster!"
I smiled. Twyla's sense of humor never failed her. Her wit was endless and sarcasm was superb. She could prank anyone in a blink of an eye and then prank them again. She was the best, and only, Puck I know.
Hesekiel looked like he might explode, but stayed silent. Jason asked the question we were all thinking, "Who might do that?"
Twyla had a ominous look in her red eyes. "Sairai."
A/N: So yeah. I suck. I have no excuses. I have a whole bunch of chapters preprinted, so I think that I'll just post most of those to make up for my extremely long absence.
Hope you enjoyed!
