Chapter 12

NOTE: I edited the last chapter so they're not leaving that night but in the afternoon the next day. 

Katie's POV: Colton meeting Mum would have to be one of the best moments in our relationship so far, even though she couldn't physically be there I still felt her presence. I sat and watched as Colton talked to her, I smiled his conversation so free, even though he can't get a reply. Once he was done he turned to me, his signature smile plastered to his face. "Thank you for being me here." He says. "Mum would have liked you." I replied. We sat in silence until a cheerful, laughing couple being Wes and Meg turned up. "Hey Colton, hey Katie, hey Auntie." She said as she sat down beside us. Wes came and stuck his arms around Meg and my shoulders. We sat there and had some laughs just talking about Mum. "So are we surfing in the morning?" Wes whispered. "Yeah of course nothing better than ya home waves." I replied. We sat and talked for what felt like only a short while but once we noticed the sky was pitch black my mind changed. "We should go." I say to everyone as I got  up. We all said our goodbyes and made our way back home. 

"I still can't believe you kept my room all set up." I said to Laraine as she and I sat down with our cups of tea. "It's your room, you basically lived here." She replied smiling. I smiled back and took a sip of my drink. "I think it was good, going to see Dad but he's probably back at the pub getting pissed." I said letting out a sigh. "But you saw him and he still remembers you, that's a positive. Do not drown on the negatives." She said as she placed her hand on my shoulder. I gave her a hug and finished the last of my tea. "Alright, I better go see what the three musketeers are up to." I said, smiling. "Have fun." She replied giggling. I went upstairs and heard loud noises from Wes's room. I walked in and they were arguing over a playstation game. "Katie, you agree with me when I say I won right?" Meg said inviting me into the argument. "Um I-" I stuttered till Wes interrupted. "Nah she would believe her best friend of forever first right?" He asked. "No she would believe her boyfriend." Colton complained. I laughed so hard that I was struggling to breathe as they still argued. I grabbed the controller from Wes's lap sat on the ground in front of him and started to play. "And I just won." I said smirking. They all stopped arguing and looked at the screen to see I set the new high score. "Now stop arguing." I said rolling my eyes before I picked myself up of the floor and went to my room.

Colton's POV: I took one look at Meg and Wes before walking out and after Katie. "Babe are you okay?" I asked as I laid down beside her on the bed. "Just miss Mum, that's all." She replied. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her forehead. We sat in silence until light snore echoed threw the room. I wrapped Katie's sleeping body and placed a kiss on her forehead before walking back to Wes and Meg. "Is she all good?" Wes asked. "She just misses her Mum, she's asleep now." I replied. He nodded and passed me a playstation controller. 

*Next Day

Katie's POV: I woke up in yesterdays clothes. What the hell? Must of been tired and just crashed. Of course Colton is still asleep, I managed to release myself from his grip and walked to the bathroom to have a shower. Morning showers are always the best, it wakes me up. Once done I got changed into a comfortable dress (dress in comments.) I skipped downstairs to the kitchen where Laraine was cooking up breakfast. "Let me help." I said. "You can stir up that mixture darling." She said pointing to a bowl. We both had a good chat, as we cooked up bacon, egg and made some pancakes for breakfast. "Colton seems like a lovely guy." Laraine said as we dished up the breakfast. "Yeah he is." I replied smiling. "I smell bacon." Wes said as we skipped into the kitchen and sat down. I gave him a hug then passed him a plate. "You look beautiful today." He said. "Thank you." Laraine replied sarcastically. "Yeah she does doesn't she?" I replied giggling. He rolled his eyes before digging into his bacon. "Morning." Meg said as she walks in with her unicorn onesie. She took a plate I held out for her and sat down beside Wes. "How long does it take for Colton to get up?" Laraine asked. "He will be up soon." I replied. Shortly after he came down, gave me a smile and a kiss on the forehead. I passed him a plate and followed him to the table and sat down to eat. "Katie, keen on a surff?" Wes asked. "Of course, Laraine have you still got our old boards?" I asked. "Yeah hun still in the garage." She replied. After breakfast Wes and I got ready and then everyone went to the beach. "Nothing like the home waves." Wes said as we stood in the water just about to head in. "Yup, lets surf." I said as I walked in closer. 

Wes's POV: Even though the purpose of us coming here was to see Katie's Dad, I felt like it was a trip needed. Sometimes being in the big headlights of LA get me overwhelmed so comign home to where it's normal is a good scene change. "The waves are so sick." I heard Katie cheered as she flipped through one. I laughed and caught another wave. We surfed for about an hour till we joined the others on the shore. "We should all get an early lunch then get home and pack." Mum said. We packed up all our stuff and then went to the fish n chip shop. "I feel like a donut." Katie said. "Well get one then." I replied. Once we ordered and got our food we went home and ate it.  "I kinda miss it here." Katie said as she finished her chip. "Well the waves are better here." I replied. She giggled, "yup, sure are." 

*At the Airport

Katie's POV: "Thanks for everything Laraine." I said as I gave her a hug. "You're welcome, call me when you get back home." She replied as she returned the hug tightly. Wes came and joined onto our hug so it became a group hug. "Colton you better take care of this girl." Laraine warned nicely. I smirked at him. "Will do." He replied. "And it was nice to meet you Meg." Laraine said. "You too." She replied smiling. Our flight number was called and we headed to the plane. I hopped in first and Colton sat down beside me. I rested my head on his shoulder and cuddled up close. "I love you babe." I whispered. "I love you too."
