Mari wakes up to the sound of her alarm blurring out on her desktop. She shoots out a warm arm, now cold, and feels around for the stop button. She growls when she can't feel it and slams her fist over it repetitively. The sound stops and she sighs in content, pulling her her arm into the blanket.

The door to her room burst open and her sister, Lori entered. Mari ignored whoever entered and continued regaining her sleep. A metal clank sounded and a cold splash fell over Mari's head. She gasped and shot out of head, only to see her sister crackles.

"Lori!" Mari screeches, "Yes sister?" Lori answers innocently. Mari raises her eyebrow, "I'm soaking wet." Mari sighs. "Happy Birthday!" Lori screams, throwing her arms in the air and showing her jazz hands like it was shimmering down. Mari beamed happily and threw her arms around Lori and they both giggles together.

"Get ready for school and go down for breakfast." Lori instructs. Mari salutes her with two fingers, "I'll be right down." She salutes before ushering Lori out of her room. Mari ran into her private bathroom and turned the shower on. She stripped off her clothes and entered the shower, allow hot droplets to pelt against her skin and relax her muscles.

After the steamy shower, she grabs a towel and wraps it around her body before walking to her closet to pick out an outfit. She decided to wear a black leather skirt, a white sleeveless top with a red fuzzy sweater over and black console with a red French Barrett over her ebony hair.

When she made her way down the stair, "SURPRISE!" They yelled. Kori, Mari's mother, grinned brightly, wrapping her arms around Kori, "Happy birthday, my little night fire." Kori greeted. Dick, Mari's father, gave Kori a big hug, "Happy Birthday, Mars." He greeted. "We've got a surprise for you!" Lori gleamed excitedly.

Lori skipped towards the fridge, opening the fridge door and pulled out a big rectangular shape cake. The cake had pink and white cream surrounding it. On the top in white cream, it said: Happy Birthday 16th Mariand'r Grayson.

Mari smiled brightly, brushing away tears with the back of her hand before pulling them all into a group hug.

"Thank you all so much. This is the best." Mari mumbled as she sniffed. "Don't worry about it. Let's have some cake." Lori suggested. Mari grabbed the knife on the counter, sticking it throwing the cake and cutting a slice. She handed out to everyone and the ate it happily.

"You know, my birthday is in a month or so. I expect a cake," Lori informed. This got the family to burst out laughing. Dick's phone rang in his pockets, cutting his laughter short.

"Hello?" He answered.

"Dickie, don't forget the meeting in an hour. You're always there in the Nick of time. Just come early for once." The voice scolded.

"I'll see you there, Roy." Dick answered.

"Phone Wally and remind him too." Roy warned before hanging up. Dick shook his head, "Sorry to cut this short but I have to get to a meeting early for once. Enjoy your birthday Mars." He said, giving her a kiss on her forehead before rushing out the door.
