Zekkla sat in her and Candy's shared room, staring at the empty bed across the room. She missed her older sister, and was a bit peeved that Candy hadn't told her she was leaving or where she was going...
Or how long...
Her mother had said that Candy would be home soon, but it had been too long for Zekkla, and any longer would feel like another eternity. All she wanted was for her sister to come home. Zekkla got up slowly from her sitting position on her own bed and headed for the door. She was going to go sit in her father's study- the only place that allowed her to clear her thoughts.
As she entered the room, she allowed the smell of old and new books to fill her senses. She remembered when she was only four and her father would bring Candy and Zekkla into this room to read them stories from the old shelves. It made her kind of sad to realize that now they were older, those times were slowly decreasing. Their father was barely home, Candy's training was getting more intense, and Zekkla... Zekkla was alone. She had no one. She barely knew anyone in her town. The only friend she ever had or needed was Candy, and now that she was gone, Zekkla only had the entertainment she could provide for herself. That could be a lot or a very small amount. It all depended on the day. On nice, warm, sunny days, she would head out towards the lake to swim, fish, or just relax by the water. On cool, cloudy days, she could sit inside and play an instument, sketch, read...
She was bored.
Candy had been gone for a few weeks now, nearing a month. Zekkla could hardly bear a week, so this was beggining to hurt her soul. Supportive... She thought to herself. That was her main trait. A slightly different shade of blue than Candy's Empathetic soul. Zekkla's was more of a tealish, sea blue; while Candy's was sky blue. So many people had assumed they were twins because of both their soul and their appearances, but the girls' parents had sworn they were merely siblings. The girls themselves didnt' remember much from their childhood, so they had no reason to doubt them.
Zekkla often wondered how often Candy thought about her. She assumed it wasn't very often, since she most likely had some other people to hang out wiht- unlike Zekkla. At that thought, Zekkla began to sadly trail her fingers across the old mahogony of her father's desk. She was tired, but not in the way most people would assume. She was tired of her life, tired of people, tired of the lies.
She had finally decided. No one was going to tell her where Candy was...So she would find her herself.
I hope you enjoyed this. I figured I would just let you know how things are going back in town with Zekkla... This will be fun. I can feel my ideas beginning ot flow back...
