PAGE ONE
Panel One: Wide-angle profile view of Ania walking to the right in the forest.
Panel Two: Medium-length view of Ania.
ANIA: …Taking orders from a ghost… To kill someone I’ve never met.
Panel Three: Medium-length view of Ania from a different angle.
Panel Four: Medium-length view of Ania from above.
ANIA: I could never kill anyone.
PAGE TWO
Panel One: Extreme close-up of Ania.
ANIA: But if I kill a murderer…
Panel Two: View of foliage, as seen from Ania’s height.
ANIA (OP): …Aren’t I just as bad as him?
Panel Three: Medium-length view of Ania, walking through the forest.
ANIA: Why would I do it, anyway? This Boric guy never did anything to me.
Panel Four: View of a beetle sitting on a large leaf.
ANIA (OP): I don’t even know how to kill someone.
PAGE THREE
Panel One: Profile view of Ania from the shoulders up, with the trees in the background.
Panel Two: Close-up of Ania’s face.
ANIA: But I do need to get out of this forest.
Panel Three: Wide-angle view of the expansive forest. Ania is visible and appears tiny, emphasizing that she is just a little girl lost in the forest.
PAGE FOUR
Panel One: Close-up of Ania’s face. Her eyes are a bit wider than before—she’s starting to get worried.
ANIA: Where am I, anyway?
Panel Two: View of tree trunks and foliage from Ania’s height.
Panel Three: Wide-angle view of the forest from Ania’s perspective. There is some disturbance in the distance, and something is making a noise.
SFX: Woosh
ANIA: What was that?
PAGE FIVE
Panel One: View of the forest similar to previous panel, but there are more noises.
SFX: Rustle, rustle
SFX: Woosh
Panel Two: Same as previous panel, but now there are more noises.
SFX: Rustle, rustle
SFX: Patter, patter
PAGE SIX
Panel One: Wide-angle view of the forest with a burst of wild animals fleeing toward the viewer. Rabbits, mice, deer, birds—even bears. Ania is visible from behind in the foreground, and she’s falling backwards with surprise.
SFX: Woosh
ANIA: Ahhh!
PAGE SEVEN
Panel One: Ania is running through the forest, trying to get away from the animals.
SFX: Huff, puff
Panel Two: Close-up of Ania’s bare foot tripping on a root, sending Ania face-first into the ground.
ANIA (OP): Uf!
Panel Three: Close-up of the animals, still rushing toward the viewer.
Panel Four: Full-length view of Ania from behind. She’s sitting on the ground, and the animals rush by in the distance.
ANIA: !
PAGE EIGHT
Panel One: Full-body view of Ania from the front. She’s still sitting on the ground, as she was in the previous panel.
ANIA: What was that?
Panel Two: View of the forest from Ania’s perspective, looking darker and more sinister than it ever has before.
Panel Three: Similar to Panel Two, but a different representation, as if Ania is looking around her, seeing different slices of the forest, and the viewer is looking through her eyes.
VOICE (OP): Well what do we have here?
PAGE NINE
Panel One: Low-angle view of a large, wrinkly old woman, cloaked in tattered rags, with four shadowy henchmen behind her. Her head is disproportionately large for her body, and she wears a kerchief to cover part of her hair. She has the air of a sinister grandmother witch. She supports herself on a gnarled, wooden walking stick.
Panel Two: Closer view of the old woman. Now the reader can appreciate her wrinkled face—and her pointed teeth. Her expression is hard to read: Does she want to harm Ania or help her?
YAGA: All alone, are you?
Panel Three: Extreme close-up of Ania, who looks terrified.
Panel Four: Close-up of Yaga, smiling. Again, it’s difficult to say whether it’s an evil smile or a nice one.
PAGE TEN
Panel One: Wide-angle view of Yaga and her dark henchmen.
YAGA: What’s a little girl like you doing in a place like this all by yourself?
Panel Two: Close-up of Ania, still scared but coming to grips with the situation.
ANIA: I—I don’t know…
Panel Three: Wide-angle profile view of Ania, still sitting, and Yaga, who is towering over her.
YAGA: You expect me to believe that, child? No one wanders the forest alone for no reason.
ANIA: I’ve been here for as long as I can remember.
PAGE ELEVEN
Panel One: Full-body view of Yaga, facing the viewer.
YAGA: The forest is no place for a girl by herself. It’s dangerous. Don’t you know there are spirits about? Especially this time of year… And not to mention the bears and the beasts. Child, it’s a wonder you’re still alive.
Panel Two: Profile view of Ania, still sitting, and Yaga, who has now crouched down to Ania’s level.
YAGA: Come with us. We’ll take care of you.
