Chapter Three.
I walked out of my house, not even daring to look back, I knew if I did, I wouldn't be able to leave. I walked to the black car that was parked in front of my house. I sat in the back not looking out my window but I couldn't help but glance my mother was standing there, waving me goodbye. As I saw the scene in front of me tears leaked from my eyes, and can you blame me? she's my mother she's given birth to me, she's raised me, she's been there for everything, from my first day of school till my first date. We drove away from her and a sob broke through my chest. Suddenly the car stopped I looked up to see Nathaniel looking at me thoughtfully.
"Are you okay?" I nodded slowly. "Come sit in front." I got out of the back and sat in front.
"Where are we going?" I asked my voice slightly shaking. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow.
"I told you, we're going to hell." He said giving me a crooked smile. I blinked once. Then twice. Then Thrice.
"WHAT." I said no screamed at him. He flinched.
"You really have to stop doing that. I have SENSTIVE hearing." He pointed at his chest. "VAMPIRES have really strong hearing."
"Yeah I know, and you sparkle in the sun, and you have cold skin, and your eyes change colour."
"Yeah... Movies lie, and so do books." He said, "Which is why they are fiction."
"So you don't sparkle?!?" I asked sarcastically shocked.
"Nope, I don't. Nothing happens to me in sun light. I just don't like it there cause I'm from the dark ages. Ha-ha." I blinked at him. "Yeah... that was a joke."
"It wasn't a funny one." I said looking ahead. "So you don't sparkle.. do your eyes change colour?"
"Yes they do. Sometimes. Depending on how I feel."
"So red means hunger?" I guessed.
"Red means bloodlust." He nodded. "But they don't turn completely red.. when we experience bloodlust for the first time, that's when our eyes turn completely red, that is one point where a vampire shouldn't be near humans. But when we experience bloodlust normally they turn black with red around the iris."
"that's so complicated, why can't vampires be like humans? SIMPLE."
"Human's are everything but simple..." he murmured. Too bad I heard.
"But seriously why?" I asked again.
"I don't know, I'm just a player in the world god created. You should ask him."
"So vampires believe in god?"
"No, well most don't. But my mother was human, so she did believe in god." He glanced at me. "The purebloods don't, but the turned vampires do."
"Purebloods...You're a pureblood, I'm guessing." I asked.
"Well, I am. I'm the one of the last 17 purebloods alive."
"Wait, I thought your mom was human?"
"Not my real mother, my adoptive mother, my real mother died giving birth to me. My father re-married a human, well.. she's not a human anymore."
"Oh... Wait vampires can have babies?" I asked confused.
"Yes, we can..." He looked at me raising an eyebrow.
"How??!"
"Er. Uhm. They same way humans do." He stuttered. I blushed scarlet.
"I didn't mean that! I meant like how can female vampires give birth, isnt there something about being froze in time.. blah blah blah."
"Well, that's kinda true, but you see, we grow until a certain age, and then we stop. And er. Well... in that growing age you can have a child. If that age passes then you can't"
"Wha-"
"Approx. age 200. It might be late for others. Or early. Depends really."
"Oh.. wow that's old... Ho-"
"Enough child. You've asked more questions then a talk show host. And besides we're here."
I looked away from him and infront to see that we were infront of ... Casino Voyage ? I looked at him curiously.
"Oh right, um.. it's a cover. This place is owned by us.. well me. I use it as a portal."
"A PORTAL ?"
"Yes a portal."
"You mean.. like a whole new dimension thingy ma giggy ?"
"Yes, I mean exactly that."
"Oh.. oh boy."
"Get out. We need to leave now."
"Huh wha-?" I opened the door and got out. Nathaniel came over to my side and grabbed my waist, in an instant we were inside the casino, and in a very royal looking room.
"Stay here. Do not talk to anyone." He ordered, the coldness returning in his voice. He wasn't the guy I had an almost normal conversation with in the car anymore. He was Prince Nathaniel. And I was damn right scared. I looked around the room, there was a single window... I walked over to it, and looked down. That was possibly the biggest mistake I had ever made...
Right outside the window was a beast. I have no idea how to explain this horrid creatures appearance infront of me. He was big.. and hairy. Like a werewolf... only bigger. And he had long teeth.. kinda like a mammoths. Expect they were dripping with blood. My eyes widen as I realized that he was staring at me. I gasped and was suddenly tackled. To the ground.
"I thought I told you to stay over there." Nathaniel growled.
"Wha.. what is that..." I asked my voice shivering.
"That is a hellhound."
Oh my god. Nathaniel picked me up and ran. I have no idea where he was going, but I was glad that I was in his arms and away from that... thing.
"What does it want?" I asked looking at him with fearful eyes.
"Me." He replied simply.
"Why?"
"Hush child. I'll answer your questions later. We need to leave this world. Right now."
Suddenly he stopped moving, and he was standing perfectly still. He let go of me, and stepped away from me. He closed his eyes. I looked around me and noticed that we were in a chamber of some sort. It had hieroglyphic type writing on the walls... I doubt it was Egyptian. It had weird symbols... like a blood red swirly circle. I looked back at Nathaniel.
Suddenly I saw his forehead glowing. My eyes widened. The floor began to quiver. I ran beside him. But he made no sign of movement. I heard a door open. Looking up I saw, John, Kat, Zorak and Tabitha, in an instant they were around me and Nathaniel.
*Nathaniel....?* I thought to him.
*Put your arms around me Adelene... and close your eyes.*
And for the first time I obeyed him.
