"Why do we even bother going to watch? It's not like they're ever going to win."
Riley heavily glares at her little brother as they drive towards the rink. Sawyer had been in a bad mood ever since he had gotten up that morning.
"What is your problem today?" Riley snaps, fed up with the young boys moodiness.
Andrew and Sue share a look, already knowing a fight it going to take place in the next few moments. But they both knew that they had to let their kids sort it out themselves. They would never learn otherwise.
"I'm annoyed about the fact that my sister plays hockey but everybody laughs at her! At school people are always bagging you guys." The curly haired boy confesses, feeling guilty because of what others are saying behind his big sisters back.
Riley is honestly taken aback. She knew District 5 sucked, but were they really that bad? The brunette girl shook her head. They were no longer District 5, they were the Ducks. The Mighty Ducks. And they were there to win.
"Don't worry about it anymore." She smiles at her little brother, "I have a good feeling about today."

Coach Bombay was a genius.
He had gotten the team off the ice just before their game against the Cardinals started. He had then let Fulton hit as many pucks towards the net as possible. Fulton Reed may have missed most of them, but damn, he had one dangerous shot.
As Riley watched the powerful shots, she couldn't help but be thankful that they had gotten Fulton before any other team had. They definitely would've been screwed otherwise.
"Wow." Riley whispers in awe. "We might actually stand a chance."
Charlie looked over towards his best friend, "yeah. Today might be our day."
They two share a smile before Coach Bombay calls them over .
"Alright." Bombay begins his pep talk, "let's forget the past. We lost a few games, tough! That was District 5. Now we're the Ducks."
"Yeah."
"And the Ducks are undefeated."
"Yeah!"
"All right!"
"Quack, quack. Quack. Quack." Coach Bombay begins to chant, the rest of the team following enthusiastically. "Quack! Quack! Quack! Quack! Go... Ducks!"
With the team psyched up, the game begins.
~~~~~
The Cardinals had scored two goals against the Ducks already, but no one had given up yet. Coach Bombay was at the sidelines yelling out advice to the Ducks, who were doing their best to keep the Cardinal players from scoring another goal.
Riley had managed to get the puck out of defence, passing it to Connie. The said girl passed the puck to Averman, who managed to get it through the Cardinals defence, passing it to Jesse who finally got a goal.
"Yes!" Screamed Riley as she came forward from defence to congratulate Jesse. The oldest Hall boy was practically squished by his teammates, but he couldn't care less. He had managed to get a goal (the first goal for the team) and was practically glowing with pride because of it.
Once the Ducks separated, Riley was taken off the rink, Karp replacing her in Defence. And boy, was she glad he did.
One of the Cardinals had managed to bypass all of the other Ducks, excluding Karp. This then meant Karp was the only think standing between the attacker and Goldberg. As the Cardinal boy lined up to shoot, Karp suddenly dropped to his knees in front of the player, copping the full blow of the shot.
"Ouch," Riley muttered as she followed Coach Bombay towards the fallen boy, "that's gotta hurt."
Karp had fallen backwards onto the ice when they arrived. His helmet had been taken off and he was mumbling something about not wanting to go to school. Riley couldn't help but wince as she took notice of the indent on her friends helmet.
"How many fingers an I holding up?" Coach Bombay questioned.
"He wouldn't know that anyway." Peter replied.
"Shut up m, Peter." Coach Bombay nudged Peter out of the way as he continued to try and analyse the boy for serious injuries.
"Karp, are you okay?" Coach Bombay tries to ask the boy who was completely out of it. Which was not much different from normal in Rileys opinion.
"He's fine." Riley butts in making Bombay turn to the girl, "he's got a hard head. Plus, he's had harder hits then this."
As Coach Bombay examines Karp's helmet, Averman starts, "the Karp-ster, uses his head to stop the puck."
"Let's get you off the ice." Coach Bombay ignores the freckled boy as he lifts Karp up, "come on."
After Karp is situated on the bench, Coach Bombay eyes the clock and starts to figure out the teams next move to even up the scores.
"Okay, Ducks, we still got a chance here." Bombay looks at the team with determination, "Connie, Terry, Jesse, Guy, time for the secret weapon."
Riley watches as the four of them get onto the rink, Fulton following after them with the cheers of his teammates giving him a little more confidence. The brunette watches the other teams reactions, laughing as she sees them panic at the thought of Fulton taking a shot in their direction.
When the time started again Guy managed to get the puck, passing it to Connie who quickly gives it to Fulton. The tall boy winds up to take a shot, causing the other team to scream and duck out of the way. After seeing this, Connie collects the puck and passes it to Guy who gets an easy goal since the goalie had dived out of the way too.
Screams erupt from both the parents and the team as they realise they had drawn. Riley cheers with excitement, hugging the team as they celebrate their tie.
The Mighty Ducks were finally improving, and Riley couldn't wait to show the other teams what they were really made of.
