Prologue - An End Once And For All

"Choose" The glowing boy had said to him. He had to admit the temptation of control was strong, And the idea of a new DNA...A peace, perhaps even stronger. But nevertheless he had to destroy them, For Thessia, For Palaven, For Earth. As Commander Shepard struggled to his target, gun raised, he could see Earth in the distance, burning. He used what little strength he had to aim and...Fire.

In that moment the universe seemed to grow silent, For one brief moment in Shepard's life, For the one moment that the fate of the universe hinged on...just silence. He closed his weary eyes as he was sent flying backwards.

A glowing orange orb fired from the crucible, rendering all reapers destroyed. Shepard fought to pry his eyes open just barely, smiling slightly as he watched the reapers be destroyed before him."We did it..." He whispered to himself.

The glowing child began to flicker, looking down at the soldier who had given up so much for this. "But The peace...w-will...Not...Not....Last..." At that the light of the boy vanished leaving Shepard alone to watch the destruction.

As the room began to explode and collapse around him he shut his eyes, smling and clenching his fist tight. "Goodbye...Liara.." He whispered to himself "See you...with...the goddess...." Shepard took one last breath as the Citadel collapsed around him.

The Normandy-Somerewhere In the Depths Of Space:

"What the hell is that thing?!" Joker yelled from the cockpit, looking at the orange orb on the Normandy's scanners. "It's freakin' all over!" He maneuvered he Normandy best he could, trying to keep out of its range.

Liara hobbled into the cockpit, Garrus desperately trying to hold her back. "Turn...Turn us around!" She yelled, Earning a short, solemn response from Joker "I--We can't" Her eyes flared with anger, her biotics glowing blue. "What if...What if he's alive! What if he need us us!" Garrus let out a small sigh "Liara, The chances of him...surviving. You have to relalize. And we have no clue what this orb is. Is it really worth maybe getting us all killed?" She began to stop glowing, tears welling up in her eyes. "I-I'll be in my room...." She said softly, hobbling out of the cockpit. As the Normandy fell into the orbs pulse they dropped from FTL.
