Joey
I needed to break up with Lexi, and I was planning to do just that after Brendan's wedding was over. I had stayed with her throughout her recovery from the accident, but I never stopped thinking about Kristy. I wasn't being fair to anyone by taking part in this charade of a relationship. If it wasn't so heartless, I would have broken up with her right before coming on this trip.
When I had seen Kristy walk into the house with Jake and Tina, any shred of doubt I might have had was replaced by the knowledge that leaving Lexi was the best decision I could make. Both my mind and my body let me know that Kristy was the girl I needed to be with.
"So, you know you're being obvious," Max commented as he came up behind me.
"Huh?" I asked, still lost in Kristy lust.
"Man, you're practically drooling, and I bet it won't be long before your brain between your legs springs to life," he commented.
Sometimes I wondered how my straight-laced sister got along so well with my dirty-minded friend.
"And you kiss my sister with that mouth?" I asked him jokingly.
"You don't want to know what I do to your sister with this mouth," he replied, smiling.
"Yuck, Max," I responded.
He laughed. He and Rhia were the weirdest, yet most stable couple I knew. I could only hope that I had a chance to be that happy with Kristy.
"Anyway, Joe, don't change the subject. You need to make things right with Lexi and go get Kristy," he advised.
"I'm planning on it," I explained, "but what if Kristy wants nothing to do with me?"
"I'm telling you, she'll go out with you. She stares at you all the time," he offered.
"I hope you're right," I said.
"I am," Max stated. "I have to go find your sister now, but I'll talk to you later."
With that, Max walked toward the living area of the house. I guess the fact that Kristy had come alone was a good sign that I still had a chance with her.
"What was that about?" Lexi asked, coming up from behind me.
"Nothing, really. Max was just giving me too much information about his and Rhia's love lives. Ew," I lied.
"He's so goofy," she stated.
"I know, but Rhee loves him," I replied.
Lexi stood there with me as Brenden took Tina, Jake, and Kristy to their rooms. "It's a shame Kristy and TJ didn't hit it off, isn't it?" she asked me.
"I guess. I never really thought that they fit well together," I admitted.
"Oh, really?" she asked, somewhat defensively. "Who do you think Kristy fits well with?"
Me, I wanted to say. She fits with me. I freakin' love her, and I want her to have my babies. Ones that I know she won't abort. Instead, I said, "I don't know, just not that jerk."
"He's not so bad," Lexi commented quietly. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less, coming from his secret ex-girlfriend.
"If you have a thing for jerks," I added purposely to see if she'd get angry.
