You told him about the sharingan?!"
Sakura winced as Kakashi stared at her, appalled. "No one was to know about Sasuke's secret but the Leaf! Don't you know how much his eyes are wanted?" Rin put a hand on Kakashi's arm.
"It's fine," Sasuke said as he gripped Sakura's hand. "Telling one person, whose help we needed, is a small payment for Sakura's getting better."
Rin frowned. "So the solution was with us all along." Guy nodded as he smiled widely. "And all of this can be solved within three months! Good work, everyone!"
"Not everything's going to go as planned," Sasuke corrected. "And... I still need to activate my Mangekyō Sharingan."
Kakashi seemed to think. "If... all we need is the Mangekyō... can't I just break Sakura of the system?" Sasuke shook his head. "Two eyes are better than one. Besides, it would also take you three months or so to master it as well, Kakashi."
Rin said quietly, "I don't trust this guy." Sakura nodded. "He had a weird look in his eyes when I told him about Ita- Sasuke's brother. Almost like..."
Sasuke studied her. "Like he wanted something? Bad?" She nodded. "But I don't see any way to cure me unless we do as he says."
Sasuke nodded back. "You did the right thing, Sakura. Not telling him about the Sharingan and giving him full access to my valuable eyes in the eye transplant surgery might have proved to be fatal- for both me and you." Sakura sighed. "I just... I don't know. I can't make sense of the Sharingan and its system and all that."
"You don't need to understand," Sasuke said, "As long as we fix you, it's okay."
"Seconded," said Kakashi as Rin and Guy both nodded.
The five let out a big, long sigh. "So, uh...
does anyone know the way back?"

-"Orochimaru? The Orochimaru?"
Shikamaru was appalled. "The Sannin Orochimaru?" Tsunade nodded, pinching her temple. "If I had known Kabuto was Orochimaru's student, I would never have sent her there-!"
The young Nara frowned. "But wasn't Kabuto retired? To that cave of his?" Tsunade shook her head. "But he was his student. Trust me when I say that Kabuto is up to no good."
"How, may I ask?"
She got up, then sat down again, looking very distressed. "Orochimaru was an exceptional shinobi. He served the village well, along the other two fated Sannin- one of them being me.
"He was... interesting to say the least. He could learn very quickly- and he was obsessed with the idea of immortality. He soon left the Leaf as a rogue and went off on his own.
"There were rumors of him joining the Akatsuki, around the same time that Itachi joined. He soon left after that. After leaving, he and I fought with the third Sannin. He left wounded and weak.
"He sent a message to me some years ago, claiming that he found the key to immortality- but I ignored it, thinking that it was of no use to me. But I was wrong."
Shikamaru frowned. "You were... wrong?" Tsunade nodded as she buried her head in her hands. "The Sharingan. He was after the Sharingan- and I can see why.
"The sharingan can copy anything in this universe and let the user use it to their will's content. Kakashi got his hands on a sharingan, left by Obito. He's known as Kakashi, the Copy Ninja. He's copied and used almost over a thousand different jutsu. If Orochimaru wanted to copy jutsus that was enable him to live forever, be invincible..."
Shikamaru nodded. "So I see. It would be catastrophic to have a man like that possess the Sharingan." Tsunade nodded gravely. "Not only that, but the only people who possess the Sharingan now are Sasuke, Kakashi, and Obito. Kakashi and Obito can't afford to lose their Sharingan, and Sasuke is the only Uchiha in this generation left. We can't let a snake like Kabuto or Orochimaru get their hands on a power as that."
She began pacing the room again. "If we could get Naruto to come home- we could protect ourselves against those two. From the reports we've heard, Kabuto is an incredibly skilled shinobi, a master at medical-nin and has found multiple uses for chakra. Naruto can counter that with his immense chakra from him and Kurama..."
Shikamaru frowned. "All right, say that Kabuto does somehow manage to get his hands on the sharingan. Would he really just hand that power over to his mentor, just like that?"
Tsunade shook her head. "Likely not. I bet that his student is just as manipulative and vicious as his master- which is why the group needs to get away from him, ASAP-"
Ino broke into the room. "Lady Tsunade!"
She glared at Ino before speaking. "Yes?"
Ino's eyes were wide, she was panting, and in her fist there was a crumpled piece of paper. "Bad news."
Tsunade jolted. "Is it from Uchiha and his group?" she asked frantically. Ino shook her head. "No word from them yet... but something else. It's concerning Naruto."
Tsunade strolled over grumbling, "What did the kid do this time..."
She unrolled the paper.
Miss Tsunade.
We have the Nine Tails held captive. Brace yourself and your little house. We are coming.
Tsunade lifted her hands to her mouth, shocked, as she read the last eight letters with sickening dread.
