So, you obviously qualify to enter, so now it's time to learn about the finer points of the competition. Yes, we can already hear you groaning, "I have to read the same old rulebook again?! " "All competitions have the same rules - I'm skipping this part."
We assure you - read to the end. We are not like other competitions and it is important that you know the rules. Thanks, friends.
Rules:
1. All works entered must be your original writing. The Bae Book Awards are here to support writers and their work, not plagiarism. This also means we will not accept Classics. (Look, I'm an English major and I love classic lit as much as the next nerd, but I'm not going to be ranking Persuasion against Wuthering Heights. Persuasion obviously wins by a mile though).
2. You may only enter 3 books, and each must be in a different category. We need to leave room so we can share the love with everyone!
3. Entries must have at least 5 chapters. This is just to make sure there's enough material to judge fairly (Short stories are an exception to this). Completed and Ongoing stories are both acceptable.
3. We do not discriminate on basis of popularity. It doesn't matter to us whether your story has seven reads or seven million reads. Everyone is welcome here. Our scoring system will not take into account how many reads, votes, or comments Wattpad says it has.
4. All entries must be in English. Sorry to international Wattpaders, but Kaitlyn and I are both native English speakers, and we can't guarantee we'll find a judge who's able to speak your language.
5. We accept mature books. Please just make sure they're not on private, or the judges might not be able to access them.
6. Alert us if you change your title or username. Your judges might be unable to find you if you change either of these, and if we can't find your story, we can't judge it! Also, we strongly encourage you not to change genres, but if you feel it's absolutely necessary, talk to us. We'll take it on a case-by-case basis.
7. Be kind to one another. Remember our policy, people! ~ Good Vibes Only ~. The Bae Book Awards are intended to create a welcoming, positive environment for writers and readers alike. While judges will, of course, be judging and criticizing the submitted works, they will only do so constructively and with the intentions of helping everyone grow as writers. There will also be several discussions hosted in this book, during which everyone will hopefully be kind and friendly with one another. We are here to foster a good environment, and if anyone starts showing others rudeness we will kindly ask them to release their negativity elsewhere.
8. You need to follow us. Sorry everyone, but this isn't an option. Updates about the competition that you'll need to see will be habitually posted both here ( BooksBooksBae ) and on our main account ( SpilledPink ). Please follow both accounts. (Also you aren't required to read our story or anything, but we sure would appreciate it!). And please add this book to your reading list and/or library!
9. Please read the next chapter! The next chapter explains the different rounds of the contest and how stories will be scored. There is important information there you will want to know before you enter the contest!
10. Also, have fun! Did we not mention this one before? It's the most important rule, by the way. This is going to be a fun competition, and we'll be running a few different things to keep this interesting and engaging. You might even make some friends along the way!
