Demons

Before I go into what I think this song means, let’s see what the words are.

When the days are cold

And the cards all fold

And the saints we see

Are all made of gold

When your dreams all fail

And the ones we hail

Are the worst of all

And the blood’s run stale

I wanna hide the truth

I wanna shelter you

But with the beast inside

There’s nowhere we can hide

No matter what we breed

We still are made of greed

This is my kingdom come

This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat

Look into my eyes

It’s where my demons hide

It’s where my demons hide

Don’t get too close

It’s dark inside

It’s where my demons hide

It’s where my demons hide

At the curtain’s call

It's the last of all

When the lights fade out

All the sinners crawl

So they dug your grave

And the masquerade

Will come calling out

At the mess you've made

Don't wanna let you down

But I am hell bound

Though this is all for you

Don't wanna hide the truth

No matter what we breed

We still are made of greed

This is my kingdom come

This is my kingdom come

When you feel my heat

Look into my eyes

It’s where my demons hide

It’s where my demons hide

Don’t get too close

It’s dark inside

It’s where my demons hide

It’s where my demons hide

They say it's what you make

I say it's up to fate

It's woven in my soul

I need to let you go

Your eyes, they shine so bright

I wanna save that light

I can't escape this now

Unless you show me how

When you feel my heat

Look into my eyes

It’s where my demons hide

It’s where my demons hide

Don’t get too close

It’s dark inside

It’s where my demons hide

It’s where my demons hide

These are the words to one of the most interesting songs that I have listened to in all 22 years of life. The song that gives new light on so many issues and the way we as a person and society handle them

Demons is a song by a group called Imagine Dragons and in my mind is actually one of the more impactful songs that one can hear. Yes, I know there are a lot of songs that can impact you, but I think it is one of the better ones. It is a song about you and the demons you hold onto in your life.

So I was asked to write what I think Demons as a song means to people. In a full honest opinion I believe Demons is a song about crying out for help, but never being able to because you’re afraid to be judged. It’s a lack of trust.

A cry for help isn’t something to be taken lightly. In today’s society we see so many acts that make us sick. We see bullying, people talking bad about someone behind their back, people yelling at people’s faces, arguing over beliefs, seeing parents hit their children or seeing children struggling to maintain hope. These are just some examples of everyday demons we see and the ones we ignore. That ignoring someone who needs help is a demon itself.

If we see a cry for help or think someone needs help then it is time to take action. You would be surprised at the reward of saving a life, helping someone reach their dreams or getting them away from a situation that isn’t good. Trust you’ll do the right thing as the person helping the victim because that victim isn’t going to always trust that you will do the right thing. Walk away and the next day you might see an article about that person vanishing or ending it all.

I see the lyrics as a desperate call for someone to talk too as well. They don’t want to talk though at the same time because they are afraid of being judged as I said. Believe it or not, this fact can make people lose hope faster. You don’t wanna be judged, so why would that person who needs help be different. This seems similar to the cry for help, which it is, but this is a cry for someone close. A friend or a family member to confide in.

When we have problems we run to the first person we think we can trust. That isn’t the case all the time because a lot of people don’t have people like that and even if they do; they don’t run to
