Running, her exotic hair wild in the wind.
She laughed as she skipped. She ran as fast as her little legs could take her.
" Arabella?! Bella, not so fast." Seamus ran after his toddler.
" Shay. She's fine. We can see her. Let's just enjoy the mo.." Just as Dean tried to finish his sentence Arabella ran full pelt into a young pregnant mother. Her body flung back and landed backwards onto the Tarmac.
The infant cried out in pain.
Both her parents sped towards the girl.
" leanbh!" Seamus cried out.
" Honey." Dean said picking up the sobbing 2-year-old. He held her close and rubbed her back whilst Seamus said soothing words.
" I'm so sorry, are you okay?" Dean inquired at the woman. The woman had a natural blonde Afro untamed by product, It was beautiful.
Her skin was caramel in colour and glowed like the stars. She wore a simple peach sundress and sandals.
" I'm fine, It's fine." She said patting her stomach.
" Are you sure? I know she's little but she got some power. I'm still bruised from last week." Seamus laughed.
" Really. I feel fine. The fetus doesn't feel any diff..." A puddle surround the young woman's feet.
" Oh O. Lady need potty." Arabella exclaimed.
" Not worry, I do dat umetimes."
The woman nodded, eyes wide and hands holding her stomach in pain.
" I think we might want to get you to hospital?" Dean said passing Arabella to Shay and helping the woman walk.
" I'm Michele by the way." She said in between breath.
" Dean, That my husband Seamus and our daughter Arabella. Nice to meet you." He make convocation.
They brought her to their car and opened the passengers door for her.
" What about your seats?" She asked nervously.
" What about em'. Their just seats, now stop stalling, I know your scared but babies have a way of coming whether you want them or not." Dean talked calming the frighten woman.
Dean drove like a maniac brief stopping at the lights and corners, they made it to the hospital with about ten tickets for speeding but it was worth it as contractions were within 2 minutes of each other.
" That's 2 minutes, dean!" Seamus screamed.
" Okay. Everyone out." He ran round to the Michele.
"Come on, let's go meet with darling baby, then?" He helped her out of the car.
She gripped his hand tight and said " I'm scared, please don't leave me."
She looked like a child lost in the dark.
Terrified and Alone.
" I wouldn't dream of it." He comforted her.
As they approached the desk Seamus screeched
" Baby about to be born."
" Contractions 2 minutes apart. Water broke. From the way she walking, I'll say babies crowning. Might want to hurry us to a room." Dean cleared up.
The nurse nodded and got a wheelchair.
They wheeled her into a observation room.
" Put this on, Doc will be in a minute. " and she left. No one was really bothered about modesty at this point, so Michele changed with help from Dean.
The Doctor was true to the nurse's word and came a minutes later.
" So how far are we?? Shall, we have a look?"
She nodded. Dean held her hand as Seamus sat in a visiting chair at the side of the bed.
" 8 cm, quite close. Not long now, bet dad and sister can't wait. " The Doctor said towards Dean.
Michele started to speak as Dean cut her off.
" We all are." He smiled politely.
" I'll be back in an hour, page me if you need. "
And he sped to see another patient.
" What was that about?" She asked.
" It would be too much to explain right now."
He responded. She released his hand.
" Well, do you?" She asked twiddling her thumbs.
" Do we what?" Shay asked after being pale and silent for the first part of the conversation.
" Want the baby?"
" Excuse me?" Dean said.
" The baby. Do you want it?" She cried as tears flowed down her flushed cheeks.
" Don't you?" He inquired kneeing, looking deep into her flooded chocolate orbs.
She shook her head sobbing.
" I was going to give it up anyway. I can't. I..I just c..c.can't. It's better this way. I love him or her but I'm not good. "
" You don't even know us."
" I don't need too. I see the way you look at her, I want my child to have that love. Something I never had. Please. I know they'll be going to a good home."
" You might feel differently after she or he is born. When you hold that tiny, that unbelievably tiny baby in your arms for the first time. You hold their tiny hand, say hi and look into their eyes, you just know that you'll do anything for this mysterious new human that someone has just handed you." He gushed.
" That's how I know you'll take care of them. I saw you before Arabella bumped into me. I saw you, on the park with her. Running with her, swinging her around. Laughing with her. And when she got hurt, you came running, comforting her. "
He couldn't reply as she grabbed his hand.
"'Something's wrong!" She screamed.
" Shay! Go! " Seamus bolted up and out of the room after placing Arabella down on the seat, his face in pure fear.
The Doctor came running in as Michele screwed her face up in immense pain.
" Something's wrong!" Dean screamed.
The Doctor lifted the gown and blood covered the sheets.
" No! My baby. " she screamed in despair.
" Relax. Miss, Your baby's in destress. We need to take her to the operating theatre now!"
The wheel were unlocked and the group ran pushing the bed gaining members of the surgical team on the way.
" Put this on!" A nurse threw scrubs at Dean.
He did as he was told. They were pulled through glass door leaving Seamus and Arabella behind to pace and wait.
