Ch 10: The Bridge Battle pt. 2

RIKO's POV
Standing stiff and tensed, I sharply switch my red gaze between Kakashi and the ice mirrors. Glaring between the two scenes in front of me, I stay planted in my position as I guard Tazuna. Tightly clutching the kunai in my hand, I listen to the suffocating silence filled by tension. If I listen closely, I'm sure I could hear Sakura's rapid heartbeat. Even if I'm not looking at her, I know she's scared and panicked, but not for her own safety, but for Sasuke. 

Staying true to my words, I ignore the pang in my heart and focus on my task. The task to protect Tazuna and to successfully complete this mission.

Unfortunately, the tense silence is broken as Sasuke releases another painful scream. I watch as Kakashi-sensei tries to move towards Sasuke, but Zabuza interferes.

"If you get by me, I'll kill those three," he threatens.

"Damn," Kakashi curses.

"Sasuke-kun," Sakura cries out from besides me. I gaze at her and watch as her face scrunches up with worry. "Tazuna-san, I'm sorry. I'm going to leave you for a moment," she informs making my eyes widen.

"Saku-"

"Go ahead," Tazuna cuts me off.

Suddenly, Sakura gets a look of pure determination before taking out a kunai. She spins it between her fingers before running towards the mirrors.

She has no plan! She's letting her emotions control her actions! She's going to get herself killed if she keeps acting this way, I glare at her running figure, shaking my head with complete disapproval.

Reaching a certain distance, she stops and throws the kunai at the mirrors. "Sasuke-kun," she exclaims.

I mentally facepalm, idiot! She gave away the surprise attack! Does she know nothing of being a shinobi?

Shaking my head, I maintain my position and watch as Haku reaches out of the mirror, grabbing the kunai directed towards him. I release a heavy sigh, unimpressed by Sakura's actions. But I'm suddenly surprised as a single shuriken knocks Haku out of the mirror.

Next, my eyes widen as a sudden explosion of clouds appear, showing Naruto's grand entrance. I close my eyes, sighing heavily, really?

"Uzumaki Naruto has finally arrived," he exclaims, doing a weird stance. Everyone, including me, deadpans. "Now that I'm here, everything will be fine! The main character of a story usually shows up in these types of situations and instantly kicks the enemy's ass!"

"Naruto," Sakura cheers.

He wasted a great opportunity for a surprise attack, but NO he had to be a show off! Why, why, WHY am I surrounded by idiots, I frown, my shoulders slumping as I basically give up on all hope.

I tense as Zabuza suddenly throws a handful of shuriken towards Naruto. That's what he gets for being cocky. Not being able to do anything from my position, I watch with baited breath. But as Naruto stands stiff in his spot, Haku's the one who acts first. He surprises us all as he intercepts the shuriken with his senbon needles. With multiple clangs, the weapons fall to the floor and leave Naruto unscathed.
