Louis waits in anticipation for Harry to come to his house with the mail.

Today was the day.

It had been five months of hard work.

Louis now sat waiting for his acceptance letter to the University of Leeds.

----

“Louis are you sure you want to go to the same university as me?” Harry asks Louis as they study for their A level classes.

It's February and Louis is now finding out the University Harry is going to.

“Leeds is great, me grades are pretty great if I do say so myself so…” Louis brags, Harry rolls his eyes.

“Do what you want.” Harry shrugs.

Louis frowns and gets up, he snakes his arms around Harry and presses his nose against his neck.

“I can't let you go and stay in a dorm by yourself where boys will be trying to get in your pants.” Louis whispers to where his breath tickles Harry's neck, making him shiver.

“I guess you're right.” Harry moans.

Louis retracts and smiles. “Then it's settled, I'm going to Leeds.”

----

“You still have to go to these meetings if you go to university.” Liam informs Louis at the end of one of his many recovery meetings.

Louis frowns, “what why?”

Liam looks over the guidelines and rules of the University of Leeds. “With your substance abuse the only way they would even consider to let you is that you're very serious about being sober. You need my recommendation and chips.” Liam shows Louis the fine print that he wasn't careful enough to read.

“I already have a shit ton of chips.” Louis groans. Chips were what you got in drug and alcohol recovery meetings. They're were proof of your soberness and participation in the meetings.

“You do but it is what it is. Do you want to go to Leeds or not?” Liam asks.

Louis sighs. “Yes, I do.”

----

Louis exceeded everyone's expectations of how long he would be sober. Of course they never said they had any doubts but let's just say after five months of Louis keeping a pretty clean cut life, well most wouldn't have bet on it.

Louis had applied to a few other universities as well as Leeds. He had gotten letters back from all the them and each one said while he has good grades and amazing athletic abilities from the many awards he has, his substance abuse was what fucked it all up.

Louis had applied for Leeds in the beginning of March and it was now the

middle of May and he hadn't heard anything.

Louis had the encouragement of his family and friends which did help with him not feeling completely depressed.

“So now I'm fucking going to bloody Manchester and your cock sucking ass is going to Leeds. Fucking hell.” Zayn bitches as Louis and him lay on Zayn's bed.

“It's not definite that I'm going.” Louis talks himself down.

Zayn kicks Louis's head.

“Hey!”

“Don't be so negative. You're gonna get it.” Zayn reprimands. Zayn has a malevolent attitude and a benevolent soul.

Louis shrugs and Zayn continues. “You're going to fucking graduate with honors and win a fucking Nobel Peace Prize while being a pro football player.” Zayn speaks highly and optimistically.

A small smile cracks from Louis's face.
“You're right.” Louis gives in.

“You're goddamn right I'm right, I can't remember a time I was goddamn wrong.”

Louis glares at Zayn, “Don't quote a fucking music video.”

-----

Louis really just didn't want to fail the people around him.

He didn't want Harry to have a drug addicted boyfriend who works part time at Tescos because he couldn't go to University. He didn't want his parents to have their oldest represent their name by being an addict living on the street.

“Lou.” The sound of Jay's soft voice breaks Louis from his thoughts.

“Come in.” Louis replies dully. His energy is drained from anxiously waiting for Harry.

Jay quietly walks in and takes a seat next to Louis. She places a gentle hand on his tense back.

“You need to relax bubs, everything will be okay.” If anybody else said that to Louis it would only make him even more anxious but when it came from his mum, he felt at ease.

“You thinks so?” Louis looks Jay in the eyes.

She nods, “I know so.” With that Jay gives Louis a kiss on the forehead before leaving his room.

Louis is then sat alone again with only his thoughts to keep him company.

It seems like a whole other eternity till a loud yell is heard.

“Louis!” The shout causes Louis to jump a million miles back.

Fast steps are heard scurrying up the stairs.

Louis prepares for the worst.

Harry violent slams the door open and slaps the envelope in Louis's hand.

“Open it.” Harry is practically jumping off the walls.

Louis stays still before looking up at Harry.

“I'm scared.” Louis mumbles. Harry frowns and gets down to his knees.

He looks up at Louis, “whatever it says I still believe in you.” Harry then gets up and kisses Louis.

Louis takes a long deep breath before slowly tearing open the envelope.

Louis's hands feel like an ocean as they shakily take out the letter.

“You can do it.” Harry quietly encourages him.

Louis closes his eyes and does a quick silent prayer to whoever might be listening.

Louis opens it still with his eyes closed.

“What does it say?” Louis asks fearfully.

He doesn't hear anything.

He looks away from the paper before slowly opening his eyes to look at Harry.

He's crying.

“Fuck, I shouldn't have-”

“Louis I'm so proud!” Harry sobs as he slings his arms around Louis and hugs him tightly.

Louis doesn't believe it.

“Am I- am I going to Leeds?” Louis stutters.

Harry hugs him tighter, “We're going to Leeds!”
