When Lin awoke the next morning, she remembered everything that had happened the previous days and then she thought about Evan, who was not in the bed anymore, and remembered that they had shared a bed together. She never really pictured herself sharing a bed with a boy she had just met. Even though they hadn't done anything, she still felt a little awkward. She felt even more awkward when she realized that Evans shirt had pushed its way up to her stomach. Lin pulled it back down as soon as she realized this and then proceeded to get out of the bed to see where Evan had gone. She placed her feet on the ice cold flooring and went toward the door. The smell of food was heavy in the air as she walked down the hallway. When she entered the kitchen she saw Evan with his back to her making the food that she had smelt.
"Do you like scrambled or over easy?" Evan asked her without turning to look at her.
"Um...scrambled." Lin said while remembering that her footsteps had made little to no noise while she was walking. "How did you know I was standing here?" Lin asked very curiously.
"I heard you." Evan said a little too unconfidently, which made Lin wonder if he was telling the truth. She didn't get to wonder long because Evan had started putting food onto two plates, which grabbed Lin's attention immediately. She didn't know why she felt so hungry. Evan handed her a plate with bacon, eggs, and two pancakes with a smile on his face. She thanked him and then went to sit down at the table. Evan sat down in front of her a minute later with a plate of his own and by that time Lin had already finished her bacon and a full pancake.
"So I'm assuming that you like the food." Evan said while smiling at Lin then biting off a piece of bacon. Lin had to wait a few seconds until she could respond because she had been chewing a delicious piece of pancake.
"Well, of course I do, when it's this good." Lin said, a little too enthusiastically she thought.
Evan just continued to smile and his hand, that was not currently aiding him in eating, made its way across the table until it was close to Lin's hand. Lin turned her hand palm side up so that Evan could place his hand in hers. Lin stared at their hands while Evan stared at her and eventually Lin's eyes met Evan's. Their staring showed fondness, it was not lustful. They could both tell that their intentions were honest, that they both had the same mindset in their new relationship. By this point they had both forgotten their food; the breakfast that Lin had left would never hold her attention like Evan could. It was strange how deeply attached she felt to Evan. It wasn't an obsessive attachment, it was something more, and something Lin had never felt before. It was like there was a string attached to her and Evan, and it was getting shorter and shorter, pulling her even closer to his dark eyes.
Lin found that she was leaning far over the table now and Evan was also. He was so close that she could smell his intoxicating scent; lavender and sandalwood. As they continued to lean closer, seemingly at the same pace, their lips finally met, their lips finally collided in a passionate kiss. The taste of bacon lingered in their mouths. As their kiss grew stronger they both rose to a standing position and moved away from the table and their breakfast. Evan's hands fell upon Lin's waist and he pulled her towards him slowly and carefully. Lin slowly placed her hands upon Evan's shoulders. It seemed like all their movements were slow and careful even though their hearts were beating at a rapid pace.
Evan continued kissing Lin as they made their way toward the living room and toward a couch that was covered with a white sheet. Breaking their kiss for a moment, Evan's hands guided Lin to sit on the couch and he sat beside her.
"Lin." Evan said with longing in his voice.
"Evan." Lin said in reply. It seemed like they just needed to say each other's names to feel as if this moment was actually happening, to feel as if their feelings were mutual.
