Chapter 3
Jamie clutched to her leather jacket. After an hour of sitting in her van she decided to go out for a walk. Jamie looked around the busy streets of New-York, the city that never sleeps. Jamie was walking alone slightly tierd, that was until, a set of arms grasped her and pulled her into an alley. Jamie tried to scream, but couldn’t for a hand muffled her sound. The stranger threw her against a brick wall.
“Awww, why so sad sugar?” The stranger asked her stroking her cheek. Jamie tried to hit the stranger, but he grabbed her hand.
“That’s no way to treat a concerned gentleman, now I’m afraid I’m going to have to teach you how you should behave.” The stranger said before slamming Jamie into the wall. “Kiss me.” The stranger whispered in her ear. Jamie didn’t move. “I said kiss me, damn it!” Jamie, still didn’t move. This time the stranger was angered and punched her in the face. She was about to fall to the ground, when the stranger grabbed her leather jacket and pulled it off.
“Now, you have a nice package.” The stranger said, feeling her up. Jamie was frozen in fear. She was about to get rapped. The stranger was slowly making his way down Jamie heard the voice of Steve.
“That’s no way to treat a lady.”
“Get lost.” The stranger said taking his hands off Jamie for a moment. When he did she ran. Jamie was quickly grabbed though and I felt something metal up against her neck.
“Hey, get that away from her!” Steve shouted. Jamie then realized what the stranger had up against her neck. A knife. In that moment Jamie began to cry. Steve took a step closer, and when he did, the stranger pressed the knife harder against her throat.
“Take another step closer and I’ll kill her on the spot.” The stranger said, a murderous look in his eyes. Jamie cried harder “See,” the stranger said, “you’re making her cry.”
“I’m sure that would be you sir. Now put the knife down.” Steve said in stern, but calm tone of voice. It was in that moment Jamie came up with an idea. She quickly jammed her heal in the guys foot. He dropped the arm he had the knife in, but one arm was still wrapped around her waist. Jamie elbowed him in the ribs and made a run for it. But the stranger grabbed her foot and pulled her down on the ground. He threw her into the brick wall which had glass leaning up against it. Jamie’s face was the first thing to hit the ground. She was sure it was going to end for her right then and there, but then she remembered Steve was there. About a minute later Jamie slowly sat up from the pile of glass she was laying in. She looked around and saw Steve making his way towards her.
“Steve.”
“Jamie!” Steve said running towards her. “Are you alright? Is anything broken?” Steve asked worried.
“I, I, I don’t know.” Jamie said lifting her bloody hands to her face.
“We need to get you to a hospital.”
“That isn’t necessary.”
“You could be injured.”
“I’m sure it’s just a few cuts and scrapes.” Jamie said. Steve placed a hand on her knee and looked her deep in the eyes.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m positive.” Steve looked unsure, but didn’t argue. Steve stood up and put his hand out for her to grab, which she did happily. Jamie and Steve started walking, but Steve noticed she was walking with a limp.
“Do you want me to carry you?” Steve asked. Jamie nodded her head and Steve began to carry her back to his apartment.
When they got there, Steve gently set Jamie down on the couch.
“Thanks.” Jamie said.
“You’re welcome.” Steve said leaving the room. About a minute later Steve came back in with a first aid kit. He brought out an alcohol pad.
“This is going to sting a little.” Steve said, and Jamie nodded. When the pad made contact with Jamie’s cuts she whimpered. “Sorry,” Steve said.
“It’s okay.” Jamie said as Steve continued to work on her cuts.
About fifteen minutes later Steve was done.
“I should get going.” Jamie said looking around the apartment she didn’t want to leave.
“Where are you going to stay?” Steve asked Jamie.
“My van, like every night.” Jamie said getting up.
“Stay.” Steve said.
“I can’t do that to you.”
“Please, stay. So I know you’ll be okay.”
Jamie sighed. “Fine.” She said laying down on the couch.
“What are you doing?” Steve asked.
“I’m trying to sleep.”
“In your clothes?”
“Why not.”
“Jamie, you can borrow some of my clothes. And you’re not sleeping on the couch. You get the bed.”
“Are you sure?” Jamie said sitting up.
“Positive.”
“Thanks Steve.”
“You’re welcome.” Steve said handing her a pair of sweatpants and a tee shirt that were going to be way to big for her. Jamie changed her clothes in the bathroom. She walked into the living room, and looked at Steve.
“Goodnight Steve.” Jamie said.
“Goodnight Jamie.” Steve said before laying down on the couch.
