CHAPTER:1 INFECTION

Days Since Outbreak: 0

Avery's Apartment, Park Avenue, Manhattan, NY

Avery Woke up in her apartment with a yawn. After she got accepted to NYU she wasnt used to living in the big city. It was a lot louder and bigger than Sacramento. She got out of bed and went downstairs to make Coffee. As she Was Drinking it,  she was listening to the news. They were reporting On violent riots in Staten Island and how some of the rioters were not acting like ordinary people. Avery just shrugged it off and hoped the police would calm everyone down.

Times Square, Midtown Manhattan

Avery was at the Mcdonalds eating breakfast when all of a sudden the power went out.  Whats going on? Someone said. Why is the power out? Said another.  Avery went to check her phone but it wouldnt turn on. Thats weird she said. I charged it last night. Then she realized...  It was a Massive EMP Strike! She got up and ran outside to see massive rioting, and it was heading straight towards her! Luckily she gathered enough courage to run through the rioting and she was now all alone on a street running back to her apartment.

Back in Avery's Apartment

Avery rushed into her apartment complex amid the chaos and climbed the stairs since the elevator would not work. She got to her door and went inside. She tore her apartment apart looking for a battery operated radio. Then she found one. She put the battery's in and tuned to 162.550 MHz to KWO35, A NOAA Weather Station Located in Upton New York. The Radio started play a loud beep and after it stopped it played the following message. 

"The Following Message is Transmitted at the Request of the United States Government. Please Listen to any and all instructions Given. At 11:12 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Police in New York City responded to massive rioting Across the Borough of Staten Island. These riots grew so big that the NYPD Closed the Verrazano Narrows Bridge That Crosses into Brooklyn. One of the Rioters began to jump at police and started biting them. The CDC Was notified and Started conduting tests on what was happening. They Made A Statement Saying they could not find Any information on this disease. If you Live in or Near New York City Evacuate Immediatley. Stay Tuned To Local Media Outlets And NOAA Weather Radio As  More information will become available."

Avery was in shock. So Even The CDC can't figure out what's going on?! She thought. All of a sudden an Explosion so big it broke Avery's apartment windows rocked the earth. Avery fell onto the floor geting glass stuck in her leg. Avery cried with pain and looked where the explosion came from. The National Guard blew up the One57 Skyscraper!. Avery managed to get up and walked outside into the hall and brought her radio with her. She walked outside to a smoke coloured sky and a destroyed building. But that didnt stop her. She kept walking forward. Her Destination? California.
