She kept coughing and coughing. I thought she'd never stop. I just stood there, not knowing what to do. By this time, the doctors came in. A short, brunette man walked over to Jake and I. "What are you two doing in here?" He snapped.
Jake quickly replied, "We just wanted to see our friend sir."
"Get out of here." He mumbled. He turned around fast to help the others.
They brought more water and some kind of liquid medicine. She drank it, trying to hold it down then the water. Jake started talking as we were trying to get out of the cluttered room. "We have to go Serena. We had fun with you today. You'll get better! See you soon." She waved at us with her bloody hand.
I put my hand next to my body; hoping Jake would take the hint. When our hands met, we both smiled. He folded his fingers in mine. "Want to go exploring with me? It'll be fun!" He asked. My gut was telling me to say no, but I smile and say, "Why not?" Jake smirked and we were off.
As we were walking around the hospital, a group of nurses and doctors rushed past. I wonder what had happened. I brushed it off my shoulder, trying not to think about what had just happened to Serena. "Almost there."
"Almost where?" I ask, with a confused look on my face.
"You'll see." He smirked. I loved when he did that. You could see his dimples so clearly. I followed Jake, wondering where we were going.
"Close your eyes." He said. I did as he said. He grabbed both of my hands, causing my stomach to do back flips."This way." He softly said. We walked a little more, forward then we turned. We came to a stop and he let go of my hands. My eyes were still closed.
"Jake?" I ask. I thought that he left me until a pair of warm arms wrapped around my waist from behind. He whispered in my ear, "Open." Chills ran down my body.
My eyes widened. "It's beautiful!" I looked up at the man-made water fall, right there in the middle of the hospital. "Well, it's Valentine's Day. This to me, is the most romantic spot here." He paused to smile. "Here. I got you these too." He handed me a red, heart shaped box. I opened it and a chocolate aroma filled the air.
"I love chocolate!"
Jake replied, "Most girls do." What is that suppose to mean?
We sat down on the bench that was facing the waterfall. "How many girls have you brought here?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Just you." He paused. "Can I tell you something?" I looked at him with a confused grin.
"Sure, why not?"
"Now or never, I guess." He paused, taking a deep breath. "I've had a crush on you ever since we met. I was always too scared to tell you before." He was blushing. He looked absolutely adorable when he was embarrassed.
"I'm glad you finally told me."
He wrapped his arms around me. I was looking at the waterfall, but I could feel Jake's eyes on me. I turned my head to look at him. I couldn't help noticing how close our faces were, our lips. He came closer, but I turned away. I felt his body sink next to mine. "I thought that you liked me." He said as he unraveled his arms and looked away.
I sat there watching him for a few minutes before answering. "I do. I just don't want to move too fast." He nodded and we both stared blankly at the flowing water ahead of us.
