When I awoke, I was in a marshmallow colored hospital bed. I had IV's injected into me. I could move, which made me feel a bit better. I wriggled around for a minute, enjoying that I had feeling in my body again. I laid there for a few moments asking myself questions. What started the fire? Who pulled me out of the house? Why couldn't I move? I was so confused! I look over at the television. It was on the channel 'TNT'. One of my favorite tv shows was on, what a coincidence! It was a re-run, but it's been a while since I had seen it.
Sam and Dean Winchester appeared on the screen. They wrapped an iron chain inscribed with spellwork around the Buruburu's neck. Bobby then roadhauls him behind the Impala, re-enacting the ghosts' death.
When I watch the show, I relax. It's like I'm in my own little world. Weird, I know. Some people would think that I have serious problems if I could relax while watching Supernatural. It's about demons, angels, the apocalypse, and everything in between. Not something that would usually be considered calm. I was so into my thoughts and the show that I didn't realize somebody was standing by my bed. "Ah!" I jumped.
The girl was carrying a clipboard. She had short, blonde hair and was very tall. You can tell she dyed her hair because her roots were somewhat black. Her skin was very pale, but it suited her well. "Hello, Alice." She began. "Sorry for startling you! I'm your nurse, you can call me Natalie. Your mother called, she said she would be here when she can." I noticed right away that she talked quickly.
Ha. Yeah, right. My mom, visiting me. "She probably won't come." I mumble, not realizing that I said it out loud until I turned to Natalie and saw the worried look on her face.
"I have to go get your medications. What would you like to drink?"
"Just some water, please." I replied.
She walked towards the gray door. "I'll be back in a minute. Oh, and I'll tell your friend that you're awake."
Not even a minute later, Robert swung the door open and ran in. It looked like he was flying. He smiled and hugged me, a little too tight. "Ouch!" I screech. He let me go, "I am so sorry, about everything. I was freaking out when I should've been calm. I'm sorry for not being able to help more! It's all my fault. I can't believe that I-"
I cut him off. "Robert, listen to me. It was not your fault, any of it! Got that? I'm safe now."
"That's all that matters." He added to my sentence. He sat on the surprisingly comfortable bed with me and we just talked about random stuff, as we usually do.
Natalie came back about ten minutes later. She walked over to my bed, carrying a tiny clear cup and a bottle of water. She extended her hands to mine waiting for me to take them. I did, then dumped the five huge pills in my mouth and took a big gulp of water. That was probably the worst taste I have ever had in my mouth! I made a face and said, "Yuck!" Natalie laughed.
"I'm sorry that you had to take so many. At least you'll feel better in a few hours." She paused. "Would you like some breakfast?" Yum, breakfast.
"Yes, food sounds amazing right now!"
"How about you blondie?" I laughed at the nickname she gave Robert. He glared at me then answers. "No, thanks. I'm not hungry." She smiled then walked out of my room. She came back a few minutes later, holding a tray. The aroma overpowered the sickening hospital smell.
Her and Robert helped me with the tray that goes over my bed. My stomach was growling! I looked down at the food. It looked amazing, though it tasted absolutely terrible! I ate the burnt toast, soggy, syrup drenched pancake, and the two over-cooked eggs. At least the orange juice was good. I handed her the tray. She was waiting for me to finish, which I found a bit odd. She took my tray and walked out, leaving Robot and I alone.
We stayed there for a little while in silence, just watching the television. The show ended and I realized that I haven't peed since I went to bed last night. I would get up and go to the bathroom, but I don't know if I should take the IV's out by myself. My eyes are searching for the button. Ah ha! I pushed it and I could hear a beeping noise outside my door. Natalie showed up quick. "Are you alright?"
I smiled and answered, "Of course. I just need to use the bathroom." She pulled one of the IV's out. "Ouch!" I cried. Robert looked over at her, hate in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry! I have been unfocused lately." She apologized as she pulled the other two out.
"I think that you should be more focused, what about you?" Robert snapped. He had a sour look on his face.
She finished helping me up, ignoring Robert. She asked if I needed any help. I shook my head. I sat on the toilet and felt something wet. I stood up a little. "Ew!" I jump the rest of the way off the toilet. Aren't they supposed to clean these toilets?! "Is everything alright in there?" I heard Natalie ask through the door.
"I sat in pee!" I complained.
"I'm really sorry about that. I will have a janitor in here as soon as I can." I wiped the seat off with a paper towel then sat back down. I finished my business, flushed the toilet then walked to the sink. I squirt some of the soap in my hands. It smelled like cupcakes! I walked out and Natalie helped me back in bed. "You don't have to put the IV's back in." I smiled real big. "Really?" She laughed.
"Yeah, positive. It was just letting us know that you weren't dying," She giggled and then realized that it wasn't a funny joke to begin with. "You look fine now. No need to run the machine anymore. It only makes the bill cost more. You don't need it anyway." She turned and left. It was a little awkward. I think that she felt bad for the so called joke.
I flipped through the channels. The news was on, so that's what I watched. I wish that I hadn't gone to bed so early last night. I could be napping right about now. The only time I can sleep in the day is if I didn't sleep long the night before. I wish I wasn't like that, it sucks! Just then I heard a knock on the door. Robert and I both looked to see who it was. They didn't open the door all the way, so we couldn't see the face of whomever it was. "It's Jake, the janitor. Ms. Natalie said that the bathroom needed some cleaning."
"Come in." As he walked through the door, I noticed his shaggy, jet black hair. You could see his bright blue, Siberian husky eyes shining from a mile away. I smiled at him. He smiled back and told me, "Alrighty then. I'll have it cleaned up in no time." His smile.. Black hair, blue eyes AND dimples? Kill me now!
