Eric's POV:
The kingdom was thriving. Everyone was singing, laughing, making music. All except me. My father asked me to visit Merope who was a mer psychic, the only one of our kind to be so. She must have seen something important for its the reason I am on my way to her house.
Father and mother both couldn't make it because they were needed elsewhere. Though I knew they wanted to be here.
Once I was at her door I knocked. A few seconds later the door opened revealing her. She had short, pixie like hair which was the color of fire. Her eyes were mystic being a very unique kind of gold and her tail matched the color of her eyes.
"Come in. I have been expecting you." She said as she gestured for me to come in so I did. Once I was inside she closed the door. " I'll be back." She said leaving the room. I took that time to survey my surroundings. The house itself I noticed was dome shaped. On the wall there was a shelf or two with a few knick knacks on them here and there. Also there was a bookcase with books on them and I'm pretty sure there was one in every if not every then almost every room.
She came back in and sat on her couch, " sit."
I chose the chair across from her. There was actually a table separating the couch in which she sat and the chair where I sat.she stared at me and I was starting to feel uncomfortable so I said, " my parents couldn't come though they wanted to. You see..."
She put a hand up signaling me to stop talking, " I know Eric. I trust you will tell them what I have to say for it is very important. Vital even to the future of this kingdom."
I nodded silently waiting.
She inhaled deeply and closed her eyes. When she opened them again they were not the same.
Its how you knew what was coming.
When she spoke her voice was different as well, " the mer kingdom is thriving now, but soon to come is an evil force who will bring darkness upon us and there will be dark days indeed. This force will haunt us, taking away all of the laughter and music. Fighting will be a common occurrence. Fear will rule. This force though fears for it knows that it will be challenged. There is one person who will restore the mer kingdom to its original beauty though this person doesn't know it yet. She is completely unaware of what is coming. On her eighteenth birthday she will become one of us. It will be then and only then that she will join us here in Valaria. Once she is amongst us she will learn new things, make new discoveries about herself that she has never known or thought possible and she will have to choose..."
She jerked a little, rose her head and looked me dead in the eye.
" Go."
I did.
I swam as fast as I could back to the castle. On the way people stopped to chat or bow or just say hi. Normally I would have returned the greetings, but not now. Passing the guards and going through the gates I went inside straight to the throne room where I knew my parents, the king and queen would be.
I burst into the room and there they were. My dad with his silver hair and purple tail and my mom with her blue tail and black hair slowly turning to white.
They both looked at me as I stopped right in front of them. At the same time they asked, " what happened? What did she say?"I told them word for word what Merope had saw. All of her predictions came true.
Every.
Single.
One.
We all looked at one another knowing this wondering what to do.
Most of the time we knew, but not knowing who or what this dark force is nor when exactly it would come made it so much harder.
Dark days indeed.
