Chapter 30

"The Batrocket is awaiting your arrival at Gotham Space Observatory already. Good luck." The artificial intelligence replied. I nodded, unsure why knowing that it could technically 'see' me. But I readied myself, breathing in and breathing out slowly, trying to calm my nerves down.

Instead of getting on my bike I took one of Bruce's cars, and took off on my way to the Batrocket. Jeez. This guy has a ROCKET. How has nobody suspected Bruce Wayne of being the Batman yet?

The Gotham Space Observatory soon came into view, kicking my anxiety into overdrive. I loved space so much, almost more than anything. But actually GOING up there, amongst the stars. Its scary, and even worse under these circumstances.

The ship could barely be seen from the entrance, the tip sticking out above the entire building itself. "Now that's just absurd." The guard, confused with the situation and my being there, recognized my suit, or more so THE COLORS of my suit, and let me in, along with a comment. "What you and your friends have done for this city haven't gone unnoticed. Thank you, sir."

I nodded in appreciative reply, and drove through the now unlocked gate. "You there computer?" I asked, seemingly to nobody. "Yes, I am, Dick. Is there something I can assist you with?" She, or it, whichever you prefer, replied kindly.

"If I have a heart attack on the way up there- could you fly us back down?" The Batcomputer, which rarely showed emotion actually laughed in return, probably a cause of her constant digestion of information and average responses on the internet. I pulled up about five-hundred feet away from the rocket, and nervously yet swiftly walked towards it, ascending in the elevator attached. Once inside, I looked around in awe, this being both a dream, as well as fear, of mine ever since I was a kid.

"Can you fly this thing?" An answer to my question was immediately apparent as the controls came to life, buttons and screens lighting up, lights turning on, a slight whirring noise starting up seeming to come from all directions. I smiled, my nervousness slowly melting away. "Wow, okay then. Let's save our friends."

I sat down in the pilots seat, strapping myself in and taking a deep breath. And after confirming that I was ready, the computer took over and started up the engines, a fiery blast coming from the bottom, and we started to take off. This was it. There's no turning back now.
