The Japanese language has three kinds of letters.
•ひらがな【Hiragana】•
Hiragana is used to write primarily Japanese Words, grammar patterns, particles, etc.
•かたかな【Katakana】•
Katakana is used to write foreign names and loan words taken from other languages.
E.g. - Maria isn't a native Japanese name, so it will be written in Katakana.『 マリア 』《マ -ma リ-ri ア-a》
Or words like Computer and toilet will also be written in Katakana.
『コンピュータ』【konpyuta】
『トイレ』【toire】
•漢字 【かんじ○Kanji】•
Kanji's are Chinese characters borrowed into Japanese language.Almost 2000 kanjis are used in daily life conversations.
But do not make the mistake — that if you know kanjis you also know Chinese.
Because yes, some of the characters mean the same but they have different wordings and sometimes even meanings. The three scripts, and the letters are used together to form sentences.
Additional Note: The Japanese words that I have written in English also have a name, they are known as [Romaji] -roman letters.
They are used for the convenience of foreigners and are sometimes also used under street signs and stations.
I would recommend learning Hiragana and Katakana, just for the better understanding of words.
But if you just want to learn some word for fun you can just mug them up. :)
I'll put a picture of Hiragana and Katakana chart.
The charts are not mine and credits to the original creator.
This is it for today!
Hope you understand and learn something new today.Feel free to ask me any doubts you have, but remember I'm also learning.😁
