I forced my heavy eyes open and reached my arms above my head to stretch but I found myself restricted. I bolted upright and noticed my hands were handcuffed to the end bed post of a massive bed. What the?

The room was a square room made completely out of wood. On the exact opposite side of me was a huge wooden door. The right side of the room had another door but this one was smaller and on the left side of the room was a desk with papers scattered everywhere. The whole room seemed to be swaying, as if we were rocking on water.

A ship. I'm on a ship.

The sudden sound of a gun shot rang throughout and I screamed. Nothing happened. There was suddenly a loud, booming voice just beyond the door. I heard the sound of heavy footsteps nearing and I put my head down, allowing my long wavy hair to fall in my face, concealing it. Sometime after I passed out, my braid must have fallen out. Remnants of the flowers were scattered around me.

"I DON'T CARE! NOW GET BACK TO WORK YOU FILTHY SCUMS!!" a loud voice boomed, now very close.

A pirate ship.

Mystomach suddenly felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.

The door suddenly swung open with so much force that it ricocheted off the wall. A tall, dark figure stood in the doorway but I couldn't make anything out because he was silhouetted from the setting sun. How long have I been out?

"TALON!" he yelled, his hands clenched at his sides. Another shadow appeared but this one was a little smaller. "She be awake," he said in a gruff manner before trudging away, slamming the door behind him.

I could see Talon better once the door had closed and he stood in the light. He looked to be about my age with short blonde hair and grayish blue eyes. He had muscle to him but not a lot. He was kinda cute. Talon squatted down in front of me and I pressed up as far against the wood as I could.

"What's your name?" he asked.

I thought for a moment, debating not to tell him. "Serenity."

"Well Serenity, how did you sleep?" Talon stood up and walked around to sit on the bed behind me.

"Fine. Who are you and why have you captured me?" I demanded, fighting against my chains.

"You my dear are on a pirate ship. The Emerald to be exact. The name is Talon James, captain's right hand man," he answered.

"You didn't answer the most important question," I pointed out, starting to get frustrated with him. I clenched my fists tightly.

There was a pause before he answered. When he spoke, he was serious and the slightly playful tone from earlier was gone. "You'll have to ask the captain about that one," his deep voice sounded from above me.

The bed rattled behind me as Talon got up and opened the door. "And he doesn't like questions," he added before leaving me in the room by myself.

I felt like screaming. None of my questions were answered and who knew how long it would be before someone else walked in. And more importantly, would I get hurt?

I rested my head back and relaxed as I sat there letting the minutes pass by. It wasn't too long before I heard sudden footsteps and the door swung up with such force that I bolted upright immediately. I tried to get on my feet, but I was brought back to the floor as the chains on my wrists pulled me back.

A tall, dark figure appeared in the doorway and I recognized him to be the same person I saw before. This time he walked into the room and strode straight towards the desk. His movements were careful to hide his face.
