Love in the Darkness (Charisk)

As the group walked to the camp the rest of the monsters had set up, they chatted about what would happen next. The humans still had no idea that monster kind was set free. What the hell eas going to happen to them?

Everyone pitched in to help set up camp in a forest not to far from the human city.

"Ok," Frisk announced. "Tomorrow, Chara, Flowey and I will go into the city. I will get the Mayor and bring her back here so we can let them know that everyone is here. Understood?"

Wow, Chara thought to themselves. Frisk is taking this ambassador business real seriously. They're so cute when they're serious.

"Is that alright Chara?" 

"Huh? What?"

"Is that alright?" Frisk asked, the cutest smile on their face.

"Is what alright?" Chara replied, confused.

"If it's alright if you go to the city with us, nit wit." The demon flower hissed.

"You watch your mouth, you soulless husk of-"

"Ok, you two. Chara, is it alright with you if we go into the city tomorrow?"

"Sure, just as long as that doesn't come with us." The eldest eyed Flowey.

"Uh, sure! Ok, so you and I will go to the city tomorrow and get the mayor. Ok, let's call it a night then!"

"So, Frisk?"

"Yep?"

"What do you think the Mayor will say to... to this situation?" Chara asked them, trying to keep their voice down. They hated being stared at, especially by other humans.

"I really don't know, Chara," Frisk responded, looking up at the clouds, then to Chara. Frisk grabbed their hand. "All I'm hoping for is that her answer is good."

Chara didn't even care at Frisk's response at the moment. All they were focused on was their handed loosely tied with Frisk's surprisingly tiny hand. 

They got to City Hall, which took about 8 minutes. They finally released their hands from each other. Chara's hand felt cold as soon as they let go. They wanted to grab Frisk's hand and hold it forever. Hell, they would even kiss Frisk if they could.

But they couldn't.

Frisk opened the doors to City Hall. A secretary was at the other end of the room. Frisk and Chara ran up to her as fast as possible.

"We need to see the Mayor," Frusk exclaimed.

"It's an emergency," Chara shot at her.

"Have you made an appointment?"

"No, but-"

"Then you'll have to wait until the Mayor's schedule is clear for today, children. Now sit down over there. I'll call you when Mayor Emily is ready."

"Listen, lady," Chara started. "Where's the Mayor? We need to speak to her now."

"Excuse me, child. There is no way you should be speaking to a me that way. Didn't your parents teach you good manners?"

This took Chara aback. Their face darkened and held their hand where their Soul should be. Frisk put an arm around Chara. They didn't know much about Chara's past, but they did know Chara's parents abused them until they came to Mt. Ebott. 

Frisk gave the secretary a glare. The secretary looked in shock at Frisk, like she did nothing wrong.

"Charlotte?" A voice called from above. "What's going on down there?" All three looked up to see Mayor Emily looking down on them.

"These troublemaking kids said they needed to see you. And that is was an emergency." Charlotte huffed.

Mayor Emily gave them all a stern look, but it passed to a small smile. "Charlotte?" She asked the bitchy secretary.

"Yes, Mayor?"

"Cancel my plans for the rest of the day. I have a feeling like this meeting is very important..."

"So, children. What would you like to speak to me about?" Mayor Emily asked them.

Frisk cleared their throat. "Do you know the story of Humans and Monsters?"

"Very vaguely so, but yes. Would you clarify for me?"

Chara interrupted. "You know you don't have to speak all upper-class to us, Mayor."

The Mayor stared at Chara for a few seconds. The eldest started to get anxious. The the Mayor relaxed her shoulders and exhaled. "Finally," she sighed. "A break. And call me Emily."

"Ok, Emily!. Frisk smiled. "So, long ago, Humans and Monsters lived happily on the surface. One day, the Humans decided to wage war on Monster kind, because they were afraid that Monsters would kill them, steal their Souls and become all-powerful, unstoppable beings.

The war lasted a long time, but eventually, the Humans won. They ordered 7 powerful wizards to trap the Monsters under Mt. Ebott with a magical spell. The Barrier kept the Monsters sealed in the Underground for a very long time.

One day, a young human decided to climb Mt. Ebott. That human is Chara, who is sitting right here next to me, Emily." Chara waved. Frisk continued. "They fell upon a bed of golden flowers, their Determination keeping them alive. The Prince of Monsters, Asriel, found Chara and took them back home. Chara is taken in by King Asgore and Queen Toriel and becomes a part of the Dreemurr family. One day, Asriel and Chara decide to make a butterscotch pie for the king. They mistakingly put in buttercups, a poisonous flower, instead of cups of butter. The king was poisoned but not killed. Chara thought of a plan to free Monsters from the Underground. 

Chara would poison themselves with buttercups. Asriel would absorb their Soul, cross the Barrier, kill 6 humans, come back and free Monster kind. When they approached the village, the Humans thought Asriel had killed Chara and attacked them with all they had. At the last minute, Asriel decided to show Mercy to the Humans, getting them both killed. Asriel returned home on the verge of death, collapsed on Asgore's flowers, and died. His dust spread across the garden. Toriel and Asgore had lost both their children in one night. Asgore swore revenge on all Humans, and that if a Human were to fall into the Underground, he would kill them and take their Soul to break the Barrier, since the equivalent of 7 Human Souls are to break the Barrier.

Many more years later, 7 more Humans were to fall into the Underground. I, Frisk was the last to fall. The other 6 humans were killed by Monsters, but only because they didn't know the truth and because they were taught that Humans were evil. I showed Mercy to all the Monsters and with Determination..."

Frisk stopped suddenly. They didn't know how to to explain to the Mayor, sorry, Emily, how they just freed Monster kind yesterday and that they were living in the woods just a few miles away.

How the hell were they going to explain it to her?

"Um, Frisk?" Chara shook their shoulder a little. "Are you ok? You need to tell her, regardless."

"Tell me what?" The Mayor was confused. "Frisk, is something wrong?"

Frisk laughed nervously. "Um, yeah, I'm ok. It's just really hard to explain or even say this. Um, ok. So with Determination, I uh... I freed all of Monster kind."
