I have seen so many people break, die, give up everything for one pill, one drink. Sometimes somebody is depressed, alone, scared, and too broken, to be able to cope. I have seen dark days where nothing was more important to someone, not even their own offspring. Some people are able to fight temptation and overcome the evil, (drugs, alcohol, religion, wrong crowds) the evil will suck the life out of someone who is desperate. Most addicts are desperate to feel everything, some want to feel absolutely nothing. I have seen good days, where mom or dad etc. is normal again. I haven't seen that man in years, not that woman, especially as a child, you can influence your parents or guardian to be more powerful than the disease overtaking them.
