If someone you know and are close to is struggling with signs of addiction, it is your place to step in and speak about it with them.
Even Though the situation may feel a bit out of the ordinary, or hurtful that they choose these things over you, when under the influence of drugs a person may not be in the right headspace. Just like how people explain their judgement feeling foggy when they consume alcohol. The addict needs to feel supported, otherwise they might take it as a sign that no body really cares. Props to those who can do it alone and barely scrape by, it is a very tough thing to overcome. So many people even have problems just quitting tobacco, imagine how heroine or even just a few xanax may affect their state of mind, and other internal functions.
Be there.
