*Lane*

I saw the spark.

right away.

At first I was surprised.

Katy and Hayes?

I mean yeah he is kinda cute but most certainly not Katy ' s type.

What if she forgot she had a type.

I giggled thinking about it.

Katy nudged me and yawned.

"I feel like a wreck and my head hurts like hell. A nap would do me some good Laney.", Her eyes were heavy as she forced out the last bit of her sentence.

Poor baby.

I smiled and kissed her cheek.

"We can leave."

I started to get off the bed only to be pulled back down.

"Delaney?", She croaked.

"Yes love?"

"Can my parents come?"

My heart sank.

I couldn't tell her.

I would've thought she would remember.

I stared into those steel blue gray eyes.

They searched desperately for an answer.

I felt the boys eyes on me so I turned around to face them.

It looks like I'm the only one here that knew what happened.

"Lane? What is it? What's wrong?", She sat up raising an eyebrow.

I sighed as the boys all took chairs.

"Make yourselves comfortable... it's a long story.", I gave a sympathetic smile before taking a deep breath.

"Katy, in the summer of 2004... There was a really bad accident. It was your birthday... August 2. My parents and your parents had taken us out to go to the zoo and to go ride roller coasters at your favorite amusement park. Now we did this every year for the longest time since I knew you."

"Everybody was having fun and enjoying themselves. It started getting late as we made our way to the end of the park. You looked up to see the ferris wheel. The biggest in the country at that. Immediately you wanted to ride it. You and I rode with my mom and dad. Your parents rode in the carrier behind."

"I remember your eyes lighting up as we slowly moved towards the top of the ferris wheel. It was our second time circling when the machine started to work quite the bit slower. We were at the very top before the ride has officially broken down. The creeks and moans of the wind hitting it and shaking the carts fascinated you."

"You yelled down to your parents. I can't remember what you said... but it was something along the lines of thanking them for bringing you and myself. And that it has been the best birthday ever. They yelled back that they loved you and that it was their pleasure.  Anything to make their baby smile. It had been 1 hour since the mechanic started working. 20 mph winds weren't helping. What happened next, you may want to hold on to somebody."

I watched as Aaron stood up and sat on the bed before pulling Katy into his lap.

I don't even think she noticed as her eyes stayed fixed on mine.

"Katy, the ride shook. Your parents cart was broken to begin with.  The wind shook out the last of the hinges and just like that your parents were tumbling down from a 20 story high ferris wheel. You saw everything. You screamed and reached for them... god you were a mess. They died instantly. I'm so sorry."

Katys eyes never left mine.

Her expression was blank.

Her eyes covered with a thick gloss.

*Katy*

Dead.

Deceased.

Decomposed.

Passed.

Gone.

Perished.

Stale.

My parents were no longer here.

"Please give me a bit of space.", I turned to look at the many people in my room.

Everybody stood to leave.

I grabbed Aarons arm and sighed as the final boy exited.

"Aaron please stay. I need somebody to keep me company."

"My pleasure princess.", He lifted up the covers and layed himself next to me.

He pulled me into him before draping his arm around my waist.

I cried until I slept.

Aaron comforting me the whole way.
