"Are you serious?" I ask, fully annoyed.
"And what'd you say?" "Well, I said yes." Hyungwon says. "Why would you do that?" "Because he's sweet, funny, he cares about me. Why not?" He pauses for a while before a giant smirk is planted on his face.
"What?" I ask. "You're jealous aren't you?" "Why would I be jealous?" "Cause I have a boyfriend and you don't. Don't worry, hyung. I'll find you someone and then we'll go on double dates!" He squeals by just the mere thought of it. "No. I don't want you to find me a boyfrien-" "Oh! There's Minnie!" He waves at Minhyuk from afar and he comes jogging over. "Minnie?" I ask. "Yeah, that's what I call him."
"Hey, guys." He greets with a smile. "So, should we meet up at the cinema or do you want my mom to pick you up?" He asks Hyungwon. "We can meet up there. 8:30 right?" "Yeah. I'll see later then. I have to go. Bye Hoseok." He waves at me but I only give a mocking smile and he jogs back to where he came from.
"What's with you today? Why are you so grouchy?" "Nothing." I say while walking away from the bench we were sitting at, half hoping he would chase after me.
I didn't talk to Hyungwon at all for the rest of the day at school. He would whisper some things during class but I wouldn't listen. And I purposely avoided him during lunch, but he sat with Minhyuk anyway.
While I was walking down the street after school, Hyungwon jumped up from behind a bush. "What the hell, Hyungwon! You scared the crap out of me! How long have you been hiding there?" "For like two seconds. I've been walking in front of you this whole time. Did you really not notice me?" I glare at him while walking passed him.
"I figured out why you're mad. It's because you're scared I'm not gonna be hanging out with you as much." He says while catching up to me. "Wow, you got it right. Are you some kind of wizard?" I said sarcastically. "Don't worry, hyung. I'll hang out with you just as much as Minnie, if not more." He assures while draping an arm around me.
"Oh! Wow! That make me feel so much better!" I yell, getting a little teary-eyed. His expression changed from sly and happy to confused and shocked. "What's wrong, hyung?" He quietly asks. "Nothing." I walk a little faster. "Hyung!" He calls out but I walk even faster, practically sprinting, down the sidewalk while wiping the oncoming tears.
I rush into my house, up the stairs, and into my bed. For some reason, I can't stop crying. I don't even know why I'm crying in the first place. I hear a tick at my window. I ignore it and try to wipe my tears. I hear another tick but ignore that one as well. I hear another one and groan as I walk to the window and open it. "What's wrong, hyung?" Hyungwon worriedly asks. "I said it's nothing." "I'm coming over with chips and soda and we're gonna cheer you up." "I'm not in the mood." I say but he's already gone.
We were lying on my bed, watching Netflix, eating chips, when Hyungwon got a call. "Hello?" .... "Hey, sexy." I internally groan. I try to focus on the movie but the sound was drowned out by Hyungwon's voice. "No, I'm watching a movie with Hoseok." ...... "Eh, it's alright." ...... "I know! I can't wait either!" I clear my throat pretty loudly to get his attention, and thank God it did. "Yeah, I'll see you later. Bye."
"Who was that?" I ask, trying to sound as clueless as possible. "Just Minnie. He was just excited about tonight. Speaking of which, I have to get ready." He says while looking at his watch, the watch I got him for his last birthday. "Yeah, I have to get ready too." I blurted out. "What for?" "You're not the only one going on a date tonight." He pauses for a little. "Good for you. Who's your date?" "Someone I met at the park a couple days ago. She's really nice." "'She'?" "Yeah. We're going out to eat so I should start getting ready now." I say while taking my shirt off.
"Ok. I'll get going then... See you later." I nod my head while looking at the floor and he leaves. I sigh and lay down on my bed. That was such a stupid lie. After a couple minutes, I look to my left and see Hyungwon in his room changing into a button-down shirt and jeans. I've never seen him wear something like that.
He gives out a frustrated sigh and sits heavily on his chair. He runs a hand through his hair before looking at me. I quickly look away and pretend to text my 'date'. "Have fun, hyung." He calls from his room. "You too." I force a smile on my face and close my window. I walk back to my bed and plop down.
I was awoken when someone was crawling into my bed. "Hyungwon?" "Oh, sorry. Did I wake you?" "What time is it?" I sleepily ask. "About two in the morning. I couldn't sleep..." "Then why don't you sleep with 'Minnie'?" I mockingly say while turning the other way. "Cause no one can comfort me the way you do. Please?" I sigh and turn back around. "You're lucky I can't stay mad at you." He giggles and snuggles close to my chest.
"So how was your date?" He asks. "Um, it was ok. But that relationship isn't going anywhere. It just wasn't working for me." "Sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll get a girlfriend eventually." "Or boyfriend." I correct him. "What?" "I'm bi you know? "Really?" He asks, a teeny tiny hint of excitement. "That's cool." He casually says.
"Don't worry. We'll be together some day." I jokingly say, curious of how he would respond to that. "Like I'd ever be with you." "Aw come on. You know you love me." He chuckles and say a quiet "Yeah."
"Have you been working out?" He asks, changing the subject." "No, why?" "You're stomach is toned. And your shoulders look more broad now." "You like?" I ask with a smirk. "Honestly, yeah. It's kinda hot." I blush at his statement.
"Tell me why you don't have a boyfriend again?" "I'm saving myself for someone. They're dating someone right now though." "Really, who? We've never talked about your crushes." "Cause I don't wanna talk about my crush. It's only one." "Can you at least tell me if it's a boy or a girl?" "A boy. But that's all I'm gonna say."
"Can I try to guess who it is?" He asks. "Ugh fine. You only have one chance though." "Ok. But I'll guess another time. Right now I have to think. If I only have one chance, I have to really think about this one." I was so ready to scream in his face "It's you!" But I didn't. I kept my mouth shut.
"I'm going to sleep." I said after a few, silent minutes. "No, I'm not tired." "But I am." "Then can you cuddle me? It helps when I can't sleep..." "Isn't that considered 'cheating'? Don't you remember Minhyuk?" As much as I hated saying that, I had to. "Well, yeah but... I mean well...." He stayed quiet for a minute.
"I don't know... I guess we just don't have to tell him? And it's not considered cheating to me. It's normal to us, we've been cuddling since we were toddlers. Please? I really can't sleep." "You don't have to beg. I was just making sure you were ok with it." He turns around and I embrace him from behind. Pulling him close to my chest. A couple minutes later, I heard light snores. I wasn't tired anymore.
Goodnight Hyungwon.
