"Hoseok, come down here!" I hear eomma call from downstairs. "Coming!" I stop coloring my attempted drawing of a dragon and rush down the stairs.
Once I was in the living room, I saw two strangers sitting on the couch and across from them was eomma. I saw a little kid sitting in my rocking chair, playing with my toy dinosaur. I quickly walk up to him and yank the toy away. "This is mine!" I firmly stated. The little kid immediately starts crying, grabbing the attention from the adults. "Hoseok! You have to learn to share. This is your new neighbor and your new friend." I gasp once she said 'friend'. That boy is not my friend! She takes my toy and gives it back to the kid. He stops crying and resumes his playing. "Go out to the backyard with Hyungwon and play with him." I groan and grab his wrist and drag him outside.
"How old are you?" I ask, annoyance clear in my voice. "Hi, my name is Hyungwon and I am three years old!" He happily says, holding three fingers up to my face. "My name is Hoseok and I am four years old so you have to call me hyung. And you have to do what I say." "Ok!" I roll my eyes at his enthusiasm. "My first order as your hyung is that you have to give me back my dinosaur." He nods his head with a smile and hands me my toy back. I yank it from his hands and start playing with it.
I look over at Hyungwon and see him trying to have fun by pulling strands of grass and tearing them apart. I start to feel guilty and have an idea. "Let's go play on the swing, I'll push you." He quickly nods his head and we head over to the swing. I gently push him and smile once I see his smile return. "I'll push you now!" He hops off and I get on.
"N-not so hard!" He ignores me and pushes me as hard as his three year old body can push. The next thing I knew I was lying on the ground, crying over my scraped knee. "I'm sorry, hyung! I'll make it feel better." He kneels down in front of me and gently kisses my knee. I stop crying and stare at him. "D-does it feel better?" He worriedly asks. I don't say anything and still stare at him. He stands up and walks behind me. A couple seconds later, he comes back with my dinosaur and hands it to me. "Do you feel better now?" I nod my head and he smiles.
"Let's go to my room. I'll show you my drawings." "Ok!" We head inside and upstairs to my bedroom. "I like your room." "Thanks. This is a drawing of eomma and me." I show him a drawing I made two weeks ago. "What about your appa?" He asks while eyeing the drawing. "Eomma said that he flew to the sky like a dragon. I told her that I wanted to fly too but she started to cry so I told her that I don't want to fly anymore."
"I drew this one today," I say while showing him the unfinished coloring of my dragon, "it's a picture of appa. I never saw him so I don't know how he looks like. Since eomma said he 'flew like a dragon' then I picture him as a dragon, flying in the sky."
"I like that one!" He gets distracted by another drawing. He picks it up and shows me it. It was a drawing I drew yesterday of a flower. Honestly, I didn't like it at all because it was a girly thing to draw. "Well, I was gonna throw tha-" "Can I keep it? Please, please! I really like it!" He begs while clutching onto the piece of paper. "Sure, you can keep it." "Yay! Thank you, hyung! I'll hang it up on my wall." I blush a little for some odd reason.
"Hyungwon! Come on, we're leaving!" "Ok, eomma! Sorry, hyung, I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow!" He wraps his arms around my waist tightly and runs downstairs. "B-bye." I quietly say, knowing that he could no longer hear me.
I looked out my window and saw Hyungwon and his parents walking back to their house. Hyungwon tripped and fell because he was too busy staring at my drawing. He started crying and his eomma came rushing to him. "What's wrong, Wonnie?" I could faintly hear his eomma ask. "Hyung's d-drawing is d-dirty!" He says in between sobs. "It's ok, Wonnie. I'll try to make it nice and clean again." She smiled causing Hyungwon to stop crying and nod his head. She picks him up and carries him into the house.
I started to think for a while before an idea pops into my four year old brain. I grab a yellow crayon and a piece of paper and sit in my chair at my desk. I begin to work on another flower for Hyungwon.
Once I finished the flower, I asked eomma if I could go to Hyungwon's house and give it to him. She said yes and I hurriedly walked next door. I ring the doorbell and Hyungwon's appa answers it. "Oh, hello, there. Hoseok is it?" I nod my head. "Could I come inside to give a drawing to Hyungwon, please?" I put on my best smile and wait for his answer. "Of course, come in." I bow to him and walk in.
Their house was sort of empty but there were lots of big boxes everywhere. "Hyungwon is in the third room upstairs." His appa says. I nod my head again and walk upstairs. I knock on his door and he opens it. "Hi, hyung!" He happily says. He motions me to come in and I sit on his empty bed. "I made you this." I hand him the drawing of the yellow flower and his eyes widen. "Wow! That one's even better! Thank you, hyung!" He takes it and grabs a roll of tape and tapes it on the wall next to the drawing from before. It was obviously crooked but it didn't matter. "I wish I could draw like you." He states while staring at the new drawing.
"What do you want to do?" He asks after a while. "What kind of toys do you have?" He thinks for a while and remembers something. He walks up to one of the many boxes in his rooms labeled 'toys' and opens it. He takes out a turtle and rabbit plushie and hands me the rabbit. "This is my favorite toy!" He holds the turtle up to my face. "You can have the rabbit because you gave me two drawings." "Thank you."
We played for a long time. It was dark out by the time eomma came to get me. "Did you have fun?" She asked while we were walking back to our house. "Yeah. Hyungwon is my new best friend." I state while fiddling with the rabbit. "Did Hyungwon give you that?" I nod my head.
I can't wait until I see him again tomorrow.
