{song; please be naked by the 1975}

relationships were always tough for harry.

even a simple relationship between him and his sister Gemma was tough for him to uphold.

but his budding friendship-as he called it-with alice was fairly easy.

when he was with her, he was happy, and he was free.

when he was with her, he felt normal, he didn't hear his stutter and he never felt out of place.

they had now hung out together 5 times, 3 of them being at the shop during alice's lunch, and two being at restaurants on her weekends off.

harry wanted to ask alice to come to his house for dinner, but his shyness got the best of him. so instead, he asked his mother to do it for him.

"please m-mum?" harry begged for the fourth time.

"no, you need to do it yourself harry. you're always talking about how you want to be independent, this is your chance. i love you, and you know that, but this is something i can't do for you." anne said with a sad smile. it hurt her to watch the happiness fall from her sons eyes every time she said no, but she knew that if he was going to be successful, he had to do things for himself, not ask her to do them.

"f-fine, i don't need you a-any...anyways. t-thank you." harry said loudly, stomping away from his mother with an angry look on his face. he slammed the door behind him, leaving anne alone in her bedroom.

and though it hurt anne a bit to hear those words, a smile crept up on her face, because she knew that her little boy was growing up.

less than ten minutes after the little argument the two had, anne heard her door creak open slowly.

"c-can you take me to see h-her t-thank you?"
