(orginally 1700 words)"Downpour"
You were on your way home from hanging out with your friends at the movie theater everyone in your town frequented. The rain had begun to pick up to terrible conditions which frightened you due to the car shaking every ten seconds due to the violent thunder. To add the cherry on top it was already very dark but you were nearing your neighborhood.
You just kept on driving with some hope that you wouldn't end up getting in an accident, but as you were driving you had noticed that someone was walking on the side of the road with only an umbrella to shield them from the huge raindrops. Not only was the person very thin, the jacket they had on seemed eerily familiar, you just couldn't remember where you had seen it before.
You had contemplated to yourself before pulling over near the person and lowering your passenger side window. If you died trying to help someone out, then oh well.
"Hey! Um I'm sorry to bother you like this, but do need a ride..? I know this is weird but its rainy and cold, you might get sick!" You yelled over the rain.
The person turned around to face you and your jaw nearly dropped. It was Kim Chung-ha. She had a couple of classes with you in school, and she was well known as the school's most attractive girl but no one ever really tried getting with her because there was a rumor that she doesn't like boys. So no guy ever tried mustering up the courage to ask her out for the fear they would get rejected and have to live with the embarrassment.
She walked up to the window slowly, as to not slip on the soaking ground. You watched as she squinted her eyes to try and get a look at you, you assumed it was to assess if you were dangerous or not. "Oh.." she mumbled to herself as her eyes lit up in realization, "Um sure, if you're offering. I mean I'm sorta soaking wet so if you don't mind, that would be great." She spoke loud enough for you to hear her over the rain.
You smiled at her, "I don't mind." You leaned over the passenger seat to unlock the door and pull the handle so the door would open.
She got in and closed her umbrella. "Thank you so much." She said as she closed the door and set the umbrella down on the floor board. She buckled her seatbelt in and sent you a grateful smile.
"No no you don't have to thank me," You said as you turned the heater on so she wouldn't catch a cold. You both sat in silence until you spoke up again, "So um... if... hmm." You stared at the steering wheel. "If you don't mind me asking, um where are you headed to..?"
She looked over at you, her smile still present on her lips, "I was on my way home from the dance academy I attend," she spoke softly then she looked down to play with the sleeves of her hoodie. "It um usually takes me around an hour to get home when I walk." She quickly looked over as she realized what she told you, not knowing why she would tell you that part. It's not like you considered her a friend or anything.
"Oh wow, um do you want to come over to my house, I live just a couple more blocks down this road, we need to get you out of those wet clothes or you'll get sick. By no means do you have to, I'm just offering. I know you don't know me but I would feel horrible if I let you stay in those soaking clothes longer than necessary." You spoke in the most friendliest manner you could.
"Oh wow... Um.. I mean if you're offering then sure, but just as long as your parents don't mind you having a friend over." She said then realized she called herself your friend but all you could think about was that she would even consider you a friend. The Kim Chung-ha referred to you as a friend. Well lets not get too ahead of ourselves, she probably just didn't know how else to refer to you and herself. She honestly probably doesn't even know who you are. You two literally talked for the first time five minutes ago.
