"Liam, son, what are you reading, there?" My dad asks. I hold up the book I'm reading. It's a romance. "A romance? Don't you want to read something a little manlier, like an adventure?"

"Mum didn't tell you?" I shuffle in my seat.

"Tell me what?" He asks.

"I'm not a boy," I casually state.

"No, she didn't tell me that. Why would you think you're not a boy?" He asks, more intrigued than concerned or disgusted, like Mum was.

"I'm just not. I'm a girl," I shrug.

"Let's go to the kitchen, to really talk about this."
