"What do you mean, you're a girl?" He asks.
"I'm a girl," I shrug again. "I want to be called her and she and Leelah and the princess and a girl and.. and pretty!"
"Oh. Well. Um." My father is at a loss for words. "I shouldn't be so surprised, honestly. You used to go into your Mum's dressing room, and you'd take her shoes and tiaras and crown, everything you could fit in to, and you'd prance around the servants."
"Did I?" I giggle a little.
"Yeah," he smiles. "So your mother knows that you feel this way?"
"Yes, and let's just say, she wants to send me to therapy."
A voice comes around the corner, "Oh hell to the no!"
