I walked out of the class knowing Josh was somewhere behind. When I looked back at the parking lot to see if he was following I didn't see him. I walked to a white truck with the license plate he said and waited. After a few minutes I looked out seeing Jackson walking this way. And the trio. "Oh so your ditching me and going with the Pettimores." He said. "One actually wants to just do dinner tonight." I said.
"Whatever if you turn up pregnant I'm not rescuing you." He said walking off. "I would have already been pregnant if I had let you screw me." I yelled at his retreating figure. "You ready sweetheart? My cousins can ride in the bed." He said opening the passenger side door. I cautiously approached the open door and got in. He took my backpack and lifted it into the bed. "There's nothing breakable is there?" He asked.
"No just textbooks." I said. He closed the door before going around. "I wouldn't be so jumpy." Alex whispered. Noted. He got in and started the truck. Then pulled out of the parking lot. Once on a back road near Big Dry Run Josh stopped to let his cousins out. "Now without them, what would you like to do first before we go to eat?" He asked.
"Thought you'd have something planned." I said. His smirk said he did. "Hope you brought a swimsuit." He said. "You never know when your going to need one." I said. "Especially during the summer." He looked over like 'she's got it.' Ooh this may be fun. He parked somewhere off the road and had me switch him sides of the truck. "You seriously brought a swimsuit." He said. "Why? It's still summer. My friend and I keep one in her jeep in case we decide to go swimming somewhere and don't have ours." I said.
He hid his face by his cap before turning to watch for someone coming. I quickly changed my jeans and underwear into my swim shorts. Then took my bra off under my shirt before putting the top on I tied behind the neck and barely got it tied on my back. I took my shirt off seeing how loose it really was. I turned around fixing the ties. "Need some help?" Josh asked.
"Does it look like I need help?" I asked. Gravel then grass crunched. "Turn." I did so. He quickly untied both. I got scared until he had me hold the bottom in the right place as he tied it. Then the top strings. "Tight enough to breath?" He asked. I had to take a deep breath. "Yeah." I answered. "Then let's go." He said. I then realized he was in swim trunks.
He changed while watching for anyone. I had slid my boots back on not wanting to get bit by anything. He took my hand maneuvering us through the woods until we came to a chain fence. "Climb over." He said. I started climbing. He beat me to the top and was over before I could. I then followed over and down. "All I can say is to be careful where you jump." He said.
I knew what he meant when we got to the edge. I took my boots off as he got his shirt off. He had came barefoot. Crazy. But once you get use to it it's not bad. He had a well defined upper body. I watched as he looked for the perfect diving spot. I went the other way finding a rope swing. The gap across was super wide.
I grabbed the rope. Swung back and let go as I reached the center. I resurfaced looking for him. The quarry. Of course! No one would be here at the time and there's probably sharp rocks underneath. He followed where I went. He swung out over me landing a yard away. Something touched the bottom of my foot before he surfaced in front of me.
"It's kinda chilly today don't ya think." He said. "Your the one that drove us here." I said. "I know but I now really wanna sit out and dry." He said. I swam away from him. It's been three years since I've swam her. I went under backwards knowing how far down the rocks are. I reappeared seeing Josh sitting over on the side. The sunny side.
I swam a bit farther before deciding to go back. Something was telling me to move back closer to him. Once at the rock he was sitting on I rested my head on my forearms. "Had enough?" He asked. "Nah." I said before pushing off and going the other way. Once more I was pulled back to where he was sitting. This time I got up on the rock next to him.
He put an arm around me pulling me to him. He was warm. I don't understand how he could be cold. "Hey there's someone down here." A male voice yelled. "Stay put." He said. It's how he said it that made me want to stay. Once he disappeared I stayed sitting. Now thinking. I didn't see him with any kind of weapon. I could hear them talking from where I sat.
"Yeah. You better scram before you have a few more of us after you." I heard Josh say. After the voices were gone he looked down at me. "Come on up." He said. I climbed up, him taking my hand and pulling me up onto the ledge. "Did ya think I'd leave ya?" He asked. "No." I said. "Come on. Let's go back to the truck and get dry." He said.
Once back I dried off with a towel he handed me and got dressed in the tank top I had in my bag. I put a button up on over it and pulled my boots back on. One pistol went between my breasts and another in my waistband. Once I was dressed he was standing on the other side waiting.
"So what next?" I asked. "Wanna go grab something to eat?" He asked. "If you don't mind." I said. After reaching a place to eat he pulled into a parking spot and got out. I followed. He put his arm around me like he was saying 'she's with me don't touch or look at her without my ok.' Once at the door he went right up to the bouncer and the rope. "How are you this evening cous?" Josh asked. "Fine at the moment. It's not wild and crazy inside yet." The guy said.
The guy let us in in front of the line. Josh then led me back to the kitchen window. "Mama." Oh crap. Seriously? And older dark skinned woman came to the window. "Do you have what I requested?" Josh asked. "I sho do boy. Yo daddy owes me still. Afta yo cleaned the grill last week fo me." The lady said before going back into the kitchen.
"Mrs. Rosslyn is like a grandma to us Pettimore boys. When we do something for her she makes us a meal either for a date or when our dad refuses to cook. I cleaned the grill while Johnny, my oldest brother, did dishes for her." Josh whispered. I nodded. She handed him two to go boxes before he led me through the side door and to a picnic table. "Now this is good food." He said handing me a plastic fork.
We ate quickly before getting up and going. We found a hay field party. He spotted a few guys standing off to the side. I saw my best friend Mariah. "Hey lets LAC it up." I told her. She switched the song. Several girls jumped in. My hair whipped around. I rocked my hips and shook my whole body. I dropped it low and shook it. I grabbed some random guys hat, then shoved it his face.
I pop and locked while dropping low. Every single girl had the boys eyes on them. Then take me on ya buggy came on. Mariah handed me a beer. I made my way back over to Josh. He pulled me right to him. "I was right about you being wild." He said. When I had finished the beer he went to the cab and came back with a jar. "Try this sweetheart." He said opening it. I knew it was homemade by his family.
I took a sip. Let me just put this in my water every day to keep me sane. I set the jar on the tailgate. He got a swig of it. I then sat up on the tailgate. I yawned. "Getting sleepy sweetheart?" Josh asked. I nodded. He took my hand leading me to the cab. "Hope you had a good night." He whispered. I nodded against his arm.
