Niall POV

"Can I have a word with you in the hall please, sir?" The ginger guy interrupts Perrie and I's hushed conversation and I watch as the curly-haired man nods before following him out to the hall, not before risking a glance back at me that I do my best to ignore.

Urgh, my head hurts.

The door shuts and a loud silence engulfs the room.

"So, how've you been cuz?" I flick my eyes back over to Perrie's shuffling form.

"I've been better." She says solemnly, awkwardly grabbing her elbow with her hand. "How are you Niall? You're pretty... Fragile right now." Perrie stutters over her words.

"I'm good.. Sore if I'm honest.. When did I get so.. tall?" I chuckle a little, nervously almost. I've never been nervous around Perrie. What's changed?

"You've been this height for a while now Niall." She mentions cautiously.

"Am I missing something?" I laugh nervously, falling back into silence when Perrie remains quiet.

"I'm not sure if I should be the one to tell you babe." She smiles, yet I can see how forced it is when her lip begins to tremble.

"Hey, Pez, what's up? What's wrong?" I reach for her as small tears begin to trail down her cheeks but my hand stops before it reaches her.

Since when was I married?

"What?" I mutter to myself, pulling my hand back to my body and pulling the silver ring off my finger. I feel a small stabbing pain at the side of my head, but I brush it off, attending to the matter at hand.. Literally.

"When did I get this?" I ask, holding it up to Perrie.

Perrie looks at me a little wide-eyed and then lets her gaze fall on the beautiful ring.

Why does it feel like someone's persistently jabbing their fingers in my brain?! Ouch.

I clasp the ring in my hand and hold the other up to my temple, rubbing a little to soothe the ache.

"Is your head hurting?" Perrie questions, stepping a little closer and moving to reach for me before thinking better of it.

"Yeh- I- It's.. It's kind of gone now." I answer, letting my hand drop to my lap.

"Can you- can you just take the ring, I don't think it's mine, they must have given it to the wrong person or something." I lean back in the bed before holding my clenched fist up to Perrie, letting my palm splay open and the ring drop into her hand as she holds it up to catch the ring.

"Sure, I'll just be a minute." Perrie makes to walk out the door and I go to call for her when I see piercing green eyes watching me through the glass pane in the door, causing my hand to fly to my head again, the shooting pain changing into a dull ache at the front of my head.

I clench my eyes shut, holding my palm against my head as I lean back on the pillow and hear the door open and close, the noise from outside being cut off instantly. I begin to sit up again and watch Perrie through the window.

She's talking to that guy again, the curly haired one, he looks.. Sad.. It's the only word I can think of to describe his side profile right now.

I hadn't realised how long I'd been watching him for until the ginger from earlier obscures my view, asking why I've got my hand pressed against my head like I'm in agony.

"Ah, shit." I feel the throb in my head again, clenching my eyes shut and cursing as I hear the man's footsteps come closer to the bed.

"Niall?" His soft accent floats through my ears, draining the pain from my skull as a vampire would drain the blood from his victim.
