If you take one look into Alina's room you'll see three main objects. A bed. A dresser. And books. Lots and lots of books.

So many books, that sometimes Alina can't see one part of her floor for months at a time before her step-mom forces her to clean.

But it calms her. For her, reading is a way to escape reality and to go somewhere that is worth living in. Escaping reality brings Alina away from the monsters living inside her head that she's hiding from the world.

Mental health is a scary thing to Alina, as it is for millions of people. She thinks she may have depression, but she doesn't have to courage to tell anybody.

But one day when stacking books in the library, she notices something. A suicide note from a guy named Goerge slipped out of a book and has fallen into her hands. Alina has no clue who this person is, but one thing she knows is that he is going through the same thing she is, and she needs to speak to him.

Through Alina hunting for this George through her detective skills she meets people who hanged her life and who help her through her depression, even if she never would have talked to them before if it wasn't for the letter in the novel.
