Flashing lights, sweaty bodies dancing against each other, music blaring out of cheap speakers.

You look around with a smile on your face, your hair bouncing with you as you jump to the bass of the overplayed pop song. Your best friend smiles at you, her wide smile stretching across her face.

"Aren't you glad we came?!" She shouts over the music, but you can barely hear her. You gesture towards the exit, desperate for a bathroom break.

She nods back at you.

You both burst into laughter as you exit the gymnasium. You hold onto her for support as your right ankle twists beneath you.

"I told you not to wear those," Adriana laughs, pulling you up.

"I know," you say back, adjusting your hair, "but they're so cute!"

The two of you enter the bathroom, ready to fix your makeup when you hear a loud bang.

Soon follows screams from the gym, as you and Adriana look at each other with fear in your eyes.
