Ch 7:
Flake, are you there?
Night slipped away, revealing a cold light coming from beyond the horizon. The damp grass waved slowly with the wind, and one small she cat stared down at her leader, hopelessness filled her eyes like clouds in the sky. Then she slowly bent down and said one final sorrowful joke,
"Flake, isn't this just the way we met? You lying in snow and I came bounding up to help you?" She slightly laughed but only for a heartbeat then became once again serious. A smile edged across her face, showing only pure sadness, and those sad eyes, they stared down at him with such emotion that you wouldn't believe they weren't closer than friends. "Flake? If you can hear me..." Annabell started up again. "Please send us snow!" And as if Flake had heard, the clouds drifted in just after the sun had begun to rise. "Thank you." She whispered, grateful for the company of the snowflakes.
Annabell edged her way out of the cave where Flake's body lay. She grabbed some snow and made a snow crafted-snowflake. Then she placed it beside Flake and slowly, then she left the tunnel.
