Letting Go

    Y/N'S POV

As I walked along the sidewalk, I shoved my hands into my pockets, taking the direct path that I took every day from work. Work had been very stressful for me lately, but it had gotten to the point where I was always too tired to do anything.

I wanted to quit, but then I was reminded of where I lived... I really didn't want to end up homeless. The streets of Gotham were already dangerous enough, so I didn't want to deal with people if I didn't have to.

Once I made it home, I opened the door before I closed it behind myself. Then, I thew my purse on the sofa before I headed upstairs to take a quick shower.
After I took off my clothes, I stepped into the shower, astonished by how relaxing the hot water felt against my skin. It was moments like these that made you want to stay in the shower forever.

Once I was done washing up and rinsing the soap off myself, I smiled at the glorious scent that filled the bathroom.
I dried off quickly before I put on some shorts, along with a Robin t-shirt. A few seconds ago, I received a text message from one of my best friends, more like Godbrother, Jason Todd, but I was way too tired to even read the message.

I fell on the bed, wrapping the covers around myself immediately, but then I heard a soft knock on my window. So, I turned to see Nightwing.
I smiled but got up slowly. I walked over to the window and then opened it before Nightwing jumped in.

He pecked my lips before he said,"Hey, Y/N. What's with the pout?"

I sighed, then I answered,"Just a long day of work, and I was actually trying to get some sleep before you showed up."

Nightwing put his hand over his heart as he said,"Okay, that one hurt. So, this is the kind of attitude that I get after coming from Metropolis to see you?"

I laughed, but I asked him,"Wait, why were you in Metropolis?"

Nightwing actually blushed, and I pinched his cheeks as I said,"Aww, that is adorable. Superman needed your help, didn't he? I know how much you look up to Superman. Did you get an autograph, too, or did he just give you one for free?"

Nightwing hit my shoulder, and I cupped his face before I said,"Baby, I'm kidding. It's all right. Don't tell Bruce, but I sort of really look up to him, too. If I told him that, he would make me train and all that jazz. I am grateful that you showed up to see me, though. I had a rough day at work, like I mentioned before."

Nightwing nodded before he asked me,"Do you want to talk about it? Get it off your chest?"

I nodded, and Nightwing smiled before he said,"Give me one moment."

I sat down on my bed, and then Nightwing walked into my bathroom. He was probably going to change, which I didn't mind at all.
I touched the side of my arm before I winced in pain. Dick walked out of the bathroom, and then he sat down next to me.

He said,"Babe, you have my full attention. Go ahead and cry, yell, or do whatever you need to do in front of me right here."

I sent Dick a smile before I said,"Well, my first three of four hours went all right until dinner time came around. I was taking care of one of the tables until some man kept on hitting on me and saying inappropriate things about me to his friends. He called me over to his table, but I really wanted nothing to do with him. He then started to touch my arm while he asked me if I was going anywhere after work. I told him I already had a boyfriend, and I politely told him, "No, thank you," but he wasn't having it. He pulled me against him and started to touch the bottom of my dress, but I promise that I was trying to him away at that point. Dick, my boss came over there and talked to him, but then the guy let go of me."

I was trying my hardest to be strong because I knew how much Dick hated to see me cry. However, he could tell that I was holding it in, so he reached over before he started to rub my leg gently.

I said, my voice sort of low and distant,"A few minutes later, my... my boss had to leave, but I had forgotten all about that man. I served the other tables, but I turned, and... and he was still there with his friends. He... he was drunk and called me over to his table once again, but I... I didn't want to go back over there. Another manager told m...me to go over there. I... I did, but... but he pulled on me again and... and into his lap this time. The...The manager saw... and... and she didn't even say anything. Dick..."

I could tell that Dick wanted to get up to go and beat the guy up, but I wanted him to stay with me.

Dick held both of my hands, but then he rubbed my knuckles as he asked me,"What then, Y/N?"

Dick let go of my hands to wipe away my tears before he took back my hands again.

I sniffed before I said,"He... He kissed me and tried to get... get me to go home with him, but... but I did everything that I could to... to avoid that. His... his friends tried to help him, but... but I... I used that device B...Bruce gave me to... to scare them off. Richard, he... he's going to kill me."

Dick shook his head and said,"No, Bruce won't kill you. He'll just be glad that you're okay, babe, just as I am. Hey, don't be scared. I'll be here for you, all right? I don't want you working there anymore."

I shook my head, then I explained to Dick,"Dick, I... I can't just not work there anymore. I... I still have to... to pay for the house and food... and... and..."

Dick shushed me, and then he kissed me softly before he said,"I told you that I would be here for you, and I meant that. Bruce and I will take care of it. Don't worry. Everything will be all right, as long as you trust me to take care of you."

  I nodded before I said,"I... I trust you. I love you, Grayson."

Dick rested his forehead against mine as he said,"I love you, too, N/N. I love you, too."
