When I arrived at the room where the files are kept in the human part of the police station all I could see at first was chaos. Most human officers were standing in front of the door, looking super uncomfortable and everyone inside was standing back against a wall- except for Selem, who was kneeling on the floor, still laughing but also holding his chest and a police officer, holding a gun.
"Holgate! Good to see you..." The female officer who called me earlier came towards me but she kept her distance. "I hate working with him. He's terrible."
"Tell me about it." I responded, shrugging. Aleksander had been following behind me, looking deeply concerned. I looked around some more and spot a disturbed looking man, sitting down and drinking some water with a blanket around him. I approached him.
"Sorry, what exactly happened?" I asked, stopping before him. He looked up and seemed to jump at seeing me
"...another one... well... he... he wanted to kill me!" The man said.
"No he didn't." I said. All Selem could have done was making a comment, that guy should please stop pissing himself.
"He... I... I got a paper cut!! And he sniffed the air and said "delicious" and then he looked at me and winked... of course I started screaming!!" The man said, talking as if he just actually had been attacked.
I rolled my eyes. Yes. Of course he did. "Sir, he wouldn't have killed you, he made a joke. Calm down. What did they shoot him with?"
The man didn't look very pleased about how I was treating his 'traumatic experience'. "With a bullet. What else?"
I sighted, this man was completely useless. If he was scared of every stupid comment he heard, how come he's working for the state? How did he even get through high school? This is a mess. I simply turned around and walked into the room. By now Selem had gotten up, while the police officer still held his gun up to him. The people who were standing against the wall had their teasers ready in case he would jump at them.... He wouldn't jump at them. He dislikes moving unnecessarily much. There's literally no reason for him to attack anyone in the police station. These people are all super scared of this to happen, but why shouldn't he just hook up with someone who doesn't know he's a vampire outside of the station? He's risking safe shelter in here. Selem is the kind of guy who tries to live as stress free as possible, and in comparison to how Vampires usually live this is the easiest way to get on.
I felt relief when I saw that he was standing again. This means they shot him with a normal bullet, not with silver.
"Selem you FUCKING idiot." I said, slowly walking into the room.
"Nelly!!! You missed it! This was so great I-"He started, but I interrupted him.
"You can't just do that, you know exactly that these people overreact!" I said, grabbing him by his collar. He was wearing his uniform.
"Overreacting? Miss, he wanted to bite an officer. I don't call this overreacting." The officer with the gun said, still holding it up.
"Could you please take the gun down, as far as I know it's useless anyways." I said, calmly.
The officer really took his gun down and stared at me. "I cannot believe you really don't care about the fact that this man tried to bite a citizen!"
'Well fine bite me then' I thought, but unfortunately I couldn't make this joke. I'd catch a bullet too and while it wouldn't kill me, it would still hurt. Instead I said: "He wouldn't have done it because it literally makes no logical sense."
"Right that was the logic girl!" A woman from the wall said, pointing at me. 'The logic girl' yes it's me, logic man and I'm here to tell you some shit.
