The night went over agonizingly slow. I tried to watch a movie with Mamoru, but both of us couldn't concentrate. At some point he dragged me out to the donut shop and we got so many donuts, I couldn't believe anybody would get this amount of pastries in one go- but we ended up finishing them.
I felt sorry, but asking him how he was feeling would be a stupid question so I just let him eat and worried about him quietly.
As the morning came closer he asked me if he could sleep in my room again and we spent the day just like the previous one- but this time I managed to sleep for a few hours. This was a big step already.
As the night came up again I felt how Mamoru got off the mattress and heard him leave the room, but I wanted stay in bed for the rest of the night. Unfortunately it didn't take long until the door opened again and I saw Elise enter the room.
...That poor thing. I entirely forgot about her...
"...Are you okay?" She asked with a worried tone.
I sat up for her and shook my head. "I... I can't really say so..." I said, scratching my neck. "I'm sorry I didn't, like... look for you. After we came back."
"That's okay, I'm alright!" She said and smiled at me. She behaved the same as always, as if she didn't know the others were dead... "You fought and you lost your friends. I'm sorry for you. But you know, there's one really important thing you have to do."
I looked up at her. I couldn't believe everyone's death didn't bother her even the slightest bit... "What is it?" I asked, a bit suspiciously.
"Talk to Theodor." She said and smiled at me widely as if to make me understand that it was a good thing before disappearing.
I blinked a few times. Right. Gagnier was sitting in one of our cells now... I didn't want to talk to him... but maybe she was right.
Also, Mamoru was right. The world went on... and so should I. Even if my mind ached and my body felt nothing but the urge to stop.
I showered, got dressed and left my room, walking down into the kitchen.
Somebody cleaned it and left a cold omlette and an empty glass on the table, all set up for breakfast, but nobody was around.
I sat down and tried eating my omlette and before I left I wanted to pour some blood into my glass- but then I stopped and thought about this.
Nothing mattered.
I grabbed the glass and put it back into the shelf, just to move on and drink the blood right out of the bottle, drinking more than I would have in one go.
I wasn't surprised about suddenly feeling better. A little satisfied. A little calmer.
I drank some more before closing the bottle again and putting it back into the fridge.
After taking care of my dishes I left the building to go over to the cells. I walked up to the guards and asked them to lead me to Theodor Gagnier.
"Do you have permission?" One of the guards asked in a bored manner.
"...I need permission?" I asked, frowning at him. "I want to interrogate."
"You need an official permission to interrogate, young lady." The guard said and rolled his eyes. "I don't even know who you are."
Suddenly the other guard looked over and widened his eyes. He walked up to his co-worker and pulled him back to talk to him quietly. The officer that talked to me first rolled his eyes again and sat back down on his chair while the second one turned around to me.
