The Stone: Chapter One

When Bella Swan was born her parents, Charlie and Renee, knew she was special. Not only was she special because she was their miracle baby, they were told that the possibility of them having children was very slim so when Renee fell pregnant, they were both overjoyed with happiness, but also because she had something about her that they just couldn't figure out what it was. 

Bella's specialty only grew with her and when she turned five, she could do things that most children her age couldn't do. It was then her mother Renee, having gone through the exact same thing Bella was going through, knew exactly how special her daughter was. Bella could do things most kids dream about, she could levitate things, make things disappear then re-appear somewhere different, and above all, she could do bad things when she was angry. She once got so upset with her father -- over something really small --  that when she glared at him she accidentally set his hair on fire, he wasn't hurt and she felt really guilty but her parents understood that she didn't have control over her abilities yet. Because of this, Bella was under constant supervision and wasn't allowed out of the house unless it was for school or for other events, and she could never be alone. 

Now eleven years old, Bella had grown to be a beautiful child with long flowing brown hair that reached just below her shoulders and had a slight wave in it, her eyes were a chocolate brown colour and she had a smile that would make anyone she meets do whatever she wants. Her parents had divorced not long after she was born making Bella have two homes and sometimes two schools. She had to stay between her mother's new house that she now shared with her new husband Phill, and her dad's house. It got very upsetting at times because every child her age had parents that were still together and she didn't, but she never let her upset show. She was very good at hiding her emotions. 

Charlie and Renee tried to keep things on a friendship level for the sake of Bella, and on the August 13th, they even travelled to which ever house Bella was staying at and stay there for the sake of their daughter's birthday. This year, Bella was staying in Forks Washington with her father making Renee and her new husband travel from Jacksonville Florida to spend her eleventh birthday with her. Her parents knew exactly how special and important this day was and they were constantly checking the letter box and outside the window for that special thing that would change their daughter's life for the better.

As Renee pondered around in the kitchen preparing Bella's birthday cake, Bella was sat upstairs in her bedroom reading a fairy tale book. She knew today was her birthday which meant she should be having a blast with her friends at her party, but Bella didn't want a party. She didn't want a fuss over her birthday, it was only another day anyway. What's so great about turning one year older? Besides, she didn't have many friends, to begin with. Unless you count Angela Webber but she was visiting family. 

Charlie, who had been keeping out of Renee's way by reading a newspaper, looked up when he heard a sound coming from the front door. He set his newspaper aside and shared a glance with Phill before heaving himself off the couch with a groan and trudged his way towards the front door. There was no source of the sound except a yellowish envelope. The sight alone made him freeze in his tracks. 

"Renee!" He called out, his gruff voice trying to hide his excitement. Could that be it?

Renee huffed from the kitchen. "What, Charlie? Can't you see I'm trying to make Bella a birthday cake? I want this day to be perfect for -- is that what I think it is?" Renee stood frozen and the entrance to the kitchen wearing a cupcake apron, her eyes frozen on the envelope. 

Charlie nodded. "I think so," He bent down picking up the envelope reading who it was addressed to, and sure enough, it was addressed to Bella. "It's addressed to her"
