"When the pressure to be perfect comes from everywhere, as if they're saying you're not good enough, that your hair doesn't curl enough, that your skin is just too dark, that what you dream of suddenly isn't interesting, as if they're saying you're coal on its way to becoming a diamond. They Shame you for being you then kiss up on you when your uniqueness is back in fashion. Cutting pieces of you off just to fit their weak mold of vail and vague expectations. Telling you it's for your own good, but then again, what's your own good to start with? Appealing to the public and your personal matters being a topic of discussion? That's not the life you wished for, nor the dreams you cut through skyscrapers of books and knowledge for. This pressure isn't going to turn you into a diamond but break you and shatter your soul, hopes and dreams to pieces so small you'll spend a lifetime trying to put them back together, while they leave you and move on to the next because now, you're too "emotional".
