Chapter 12 - Happy?

"No"

"Yes"

"Yes"

"No"

"Yes"

"No! Come on Bella stop lying to me!"

I rolled my eyes at Tanner, a smile spread across my face. 

"I'm not lying to you Tanner! I really chose Caleb!"

Tanner laughed again, staring at me weirdly.

"But Connors your mate! God Bella when did your life turn into a soap opera?"

I shrugged as I grabbed a slice of pizza from the coffee table in front of me. 

"Just because I was cursed with the worst mate known to man - or werewolf - doesn't mean I have to like it. I have control over my own life, which means I have control over who I want to be with. And I DON'T want to be with someone who would drop me just because of my social status"

Tanner let out a low whistle before a smile spread across his face. "Damn girl when did you get a back bone?"

I shrugged as I turned my attention back to the movie that was playing on the TV screen. It was weird to me, that Tanner didn't know what was going on in my life. I was used to him being there with me for everything and these past couple weeks while he was going through surgeries to get the tumors out of his lungs he just wasn't.. not that i could blame him or anything!

"So, Tan" I said as I curled up next to him "What's going on in you're life?"

Making out was fun. 

Now don't make fun of me, everybody thinks it!

Which is why it was so weird to me when making out with Caleb was not so fun. I mean caleb just didn't seem into it. He was like all tense the whole time!

"What's wrong?" I asked when I finally pulled away from him.

Caleb looked at me weirdly "What do you mean?"

I knew he was just saying that so he wouldn't hurt my feelings but it wasn't working. Over these past few weeks that me and Caleb have been together i've gotten to kow him REALLY well, so I knew something was wrong. 

"Come on!" I said as I hit his chest playfully "Tell me what's up!"

Caleb sighed as he leaned his head back against the couch. "I don't know Bella. I'm just, not really feeling it.. y'know?"

I looked up at him "Not feeling what?"

Caleb looked down at his hands, obviously nervous. 

"It's not that you're not amazing Bells, cuz you are! It's just,  I was talking to a couple of my buddies and.... well i'm gonna find a mate someday -soon hopefully- and im not going to choose you over her, so why are we doing this?"

This again. We spoke about this. He promised me everything would be fine. That we'd figure it out when the time came. 

Was all that a lie?

"Look, I know that we spoke about this" he started "And you deserve better the-"

I stopped him. I lifted my hand up and stopped him.

"I don't want to hear it!" I said running my fingers through my hair, tugging at it. 

Physical pain is better then emotional pian! I'll be okay!

"Bel-"

I stopped him again.

I just stood there in his basement. My body shaking. 

I was so angry! he said he loved me! He said we would work this out! he promised me!

"Bella, please! Just listen to m-"

"I DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES CALEB" 

The room fell silent. Not even I really expected for me to yell that loud. 

I stood there for another few seconds before turning my back to him and walking up the stairs and out of his house... forever. 

After leaving Calebs house I just walked around the town for a bit. I hadn't expected to run into Connor, but I did! 

"Hey Bella" he said walking over to me. 

I waved at him.

Connor walked over to me, we just stood there for a couple seconds, me looking at him and him looking at me.

"You been crying?" he asked

I figured there was no point in lying to him so I nodded.

Connor nodded sympathetically. "Wanna tell me why?"

And again I nodded. I wanted to tell Connor why, because i believed that for once he really cared. So I did, I told him EVERYTHING.

What happened with Tanner and Caleb, and even what happened with him. I told him he hurt me and how it broke me, but im glad it happened, cuz it made me stronger and opened my eyes to reality.

And thw whole time Connor just listened, he didnt touch me didnt interupt me. just listened until I was done.

Then when he was sure i was finally done, he kissed me!

And I thought maybe he wasn't such a bad guy. Maybe he just made a mistake. Maybe everything really could work out and could be okay!
