I went back to my room, changed out of the lightly used scrubs and put on the fresh ones. I reached into one of the pockets and found a lollipop. Noah. He seemed like a really nice kid. And he was wanting to get out of this place too. I placed the lollipop back into the pocket. I'd save it for later. I wondered how he planned to get us both out of here. Joan had said that she had tried multiple times. But maybe she hadn't thought through a plan. I wanted her to come with us. To get the hell away from Gorman and anyone else who had caused her pain. But I was starting to think that it was too late to save her. Just then the doctor walked in.

"Amelia? I just wanted to come and check on you," he said.

"I'm fine, doc. Thank you," I said.

"I'd like to check your ankle if you don't mind. Just want to make sure that the cast is doing its job," he said.

"All right," I said.

I sat up on the bed and lifted my leg onto it.

"How does it feel?" he asked.

"To be honest, I can't feel a thing," I replied.

"That's the brace. Hopefully you won't feel much when I remove this," he said.

He slowly undid the brace that kept my ankle in place. Once he removed it, I hardly felt any pain.

"How does it feel?" he asked.

"Can't feel a thing," I replied.

He then picked it up and started to slowly twist it in circles. Clockwise and then counter-clockwise.

"Ow. That does hurt," I replied.

"Okay. Looks like you're gonna need to keep the brace on for a few more days. I'm sorry. I know this thing must be hell keeping on," he said.

"Well it isn't the most fashionable thing but if it helps my ankle then I'm totally okay with keeping it on," I said.

He chuckled. He helped place the brace back on. I didn't feel anything once it was back in place.

"Thanks, Dr. Edwards," I said.

"Did Dawn give you that?" he asked pointing at my right cheek.

"Is it really that obvious that it was her that gave it to me?" I asked.

"Was it someone else that gave it to you?" he asked.

"No," I replied.

"She often feels the need to take out her frustration that way. What did you do to get her fired up?" he said.

"Just gave my honest opinion. I'm assuming we don't have the right to that anymore in this place huh?" I said.

"Unfortunately. I'm sorry she did that. Let me bandage it up in my office," he said.

"God this place just keeps getting better and better," I said sarcastically.

"Come on. Let's get it cleaned up," he said.

I followed him out of the room. We walked down the hallway until we finally reached his office.

"Nice place you got here," I said once we entered.

"It's small but it's enough," he said.

He went over and opened up a cabinet nearby. He then pulled out some peroxide and a few bandages.

"This may sting a little," he said after dipping a cotton ball into the peroxide.

He pressed the damp side of the cotton ball on my face. I hissed. It did sting.
