Prompt: Imagine Lucifer confessing his loves for you, but you tell him that you're in love with Dean.
Early release due to me being out of town the next four days! Happy hunting!
You were an angel. Not necessarily as great as the stories may lead. You fought in the wars for what you believed in. You were strong and nearly as unbeatable as an archangel. Now, it was a fight between Heaven and Hell, and two mortals were stuck in the middle of it. The Winchesters. When your brother, Castiel, expelled the angels from Heaven, you went with him in hopes of doing good on Earth. Now, with Castiel missing, you stood by the Winchesters' sides.
"Y/N, I'm running Baby up to the grocery store to get some food and beer. Is there anything you want me to get for you?"
His use of the word Baby was not directed at you, but rather at his beloved car. Dean stood in the cement cold frame of the room he had given to you in the Bunker. His plaid shirt tightly hugged his frame, only button the bottom half, his jeans loose around his body, and his boots gave him an extra couple of inches. Your eyes shot to his face, and you took in his scruff on his sharp jaw, his green eyes gazed into your vessel's y/e/c eyes.
"No, thank you, Dean." You gave him a smile and stood from your desk. Your own attire felt less attractive than the man in front of you. You wore a pair of simple jeans that followed the curves from your hips down, a color appearing as gold covering the airy blouse a pair of tan ankle boots. Your hair was twisted into a few types of braids the Youtube has taught you, all mixed together with hair ties the same color of your hair.
"Alright, well, I'll still grab you your favorite ice cream, unless you want some liquor. Sam thinks he might have a lead on Cas, but we won't know for sure for a couple days. I think you could use some air. Do you want to go with me?" Dean moved towards you.
Your smile stood certain on your face as you straightened your back. "That's a very nice offer, Dean. I appreciate that. Possibly next time could be best, I think I will take a walk in the garden today."
He nodded and scratched behind his neck, awkwardness and uncertainty suddenly forming in his aura. You questioned what it could be about as your own vessel's heartbeat increased. You were surprised by yourself as your body surged forwards and wrapped your arms around Dean. He was stiff for barely a moment before reciprocating the hug.
"Dean, I'm incredibly serious. Thank you for everything you've done for me, and for Castiel. You've treated us like family and I'm happy to fight for you and Sam, for your lives, and for the good of humankind," you told Dean, talking into his shoulder. His arms tightened around you.
"You are family to me. Don't ever think you're not. I know how tough of an angel you are, but I still feel unsure often if I even want you to fight with us. I know I couldn't even stop you if I tried. Have a nice walk and I'll see you in a few hours." Dean released you after pressing a kiss to your temple. He stepped back and gave you half of a smile, before leaving your room.
You stood there for another few minutes, entrapped in your own brain, the buzz of Dean's warmth still lingering.
You finally gathered yourself for the walk, greeting Sam on your way out. He was staring at his laptop in the library. You passed the borders, the silence engulfing you, as you had been so used to the angel radio and now there was nothing. That was, until footsteps appeared on the track in the path you walked of the park, which made you realize you were miles outside of the safe Bunker.
The footsteps led to a man you recognized. You were more curious than fearful to what he was doing here. You took in his presence, the difference from angel to angel, to now angel to former angel. Most of his clothes were different forms of green, the cargo pants, the t-shirt, and button-up, except for the brown shoes, unopposed to the dark blond hair of the vessel, the upturn of his lips, and the freckles that covered his face.
When he noticed you, his face lit up with mischievous knowingness. "Well, well! If it isn't Y/N... how have you been, dear one?"
The devil's grin was the same as you remembered it to be as an angel. Lucifer had been your friend before he was sentenced to life in the Cage. Now, he stood mere feet away from you. You wanted to cross your arms for personal safety, but settled for nervously pushing a piece of hair behind your ear as he walked around you.
"I've been many different things over the centuries. For now, I am content. I suppose I should grace you with the same question." You spoke slowly, knowing the wrong words would be your downfall.
"My dear one, I'm doing much better at this moment. I'm quite surprised to see you here," he said.
"It is a public park, after all. I decided to go for a walk, not have a chat with the -" You were interrupted as Lucifer stepped forwards.
"With what? The Devil? Y/N, I truly thought more of you than that, stooping to lowly names. I trusted you." He held a hand to his chest, feigning innocent. His eyes darted around, taking in the different vessel from the last time the two of you interacted.
"And I, you, Lucifer. We were friends once. However, we are now on opposing sides of the upcoming war and you are leading a team against my friends. You are the devil and I am no longer your dear," you informed him.
Lucifer rotated his jaw in irritation and stepped right in front of you. "You can tell yourself that, Y/N, but that isn't the truth. We don't have to be enemies. I doubt that though we were apart for a long time, we never really ceased in friendship. See, your shirt is even the same color as my eyes."
Your cheeks were flushed as he gently raised a hand to your cheek and held it there as the tensions raised through eye contact. "Y/N, I love you. Come with me, and no one will lay a hand on you. You can fight with me," Lucifer continued.
You faltered. His hand felt as if it was burning your cheek. Sympathy surged through your body as you stepped back and caught his falling hand and placed it in yours. You took in a breath you shouldn't have needed and thought of the best response. Your mortality was more important in this moment than the last.
"Luc, I've never been able to lie to you. I've missed you for a long time. I do want to be your friend, I always have. You're my brother and I love you, but I'm in love with Dean Winchester, and I won't leave to fight him. I want you to understand." Your voice was down in a whisper and your eyes filled with tears.
Lucifer pulled his hand away, in shock. "Leave."
"I'm sorry that this isn't the answer you wanted. I'm glad you're free, but I won't hesitate in war against you if you continue against the Winchesters. I am human just as much as them now, there's nothing that could change that. Do what you must to me, but I've finished my walk. Goodbye, Lucifer. Please don't make me dread the next time we meet."
