Imagine:
1) Flirting with Dean Winchester before he finds out you're Bobby Singer's daughter.
2) Flirting and taking things to the next level with Dean before finding out one another's identity at Bobby's birthday party.
3) Taking care of Dean at Bobby's house after he is hurt during a hunt.
4) A day in the life of the Winchesters"You could've gone to nursing school with those skills," Sam said, impressed.
It had been over a week of nursing Dean back to health. The brothers ended up in old rooms Bobby had, places they had apparently slept a lot without you ever knowing. It was strange to be back in your old bed, knowing what you did. Dean was down the hall from you. Your dad was closer.
"Not my passion, but I'm glad I could help," you responded.
The two of you were the first up and the hour was already reaching before noon. You figured you should wake your dad soon, knowing he was more than likely sleep-stressing. You made sure the coffee was still hot. Sam and you probably had more in common than you and Dean, but you couldn't see past the brother status. That, and he was a few years younger than you. He seemed more comfortable around you as the two of you discussed books.
"It's appreciated. I know this probably wasn't how you were hoping to spend time with Bobby, especially during his birthday. I gotta admit I feel bad for not even knowing when it was. He's a good man, he's looked after Dean and I for years," Sam said wistfully.
That shouldn't sting.
It shouldn't. Yet it did. You were shipped off to be hours away from your dad for most of your youth and here these brothers were, being taken care of by a father that wasn't theirs. You spent around a decade of your life separated. Your dad wanted to be a hunter and that meant traveling. He refused to take his young kid with him or leave you by yourself so homeschooling became difficult. You were left without many, if any, parental figures. You and your dad had a good relationship now, but it wasn't easy to work past.
Knowing that Sam and Dean have spent nearly their whole lives casually visiting Bobby for advice and company was disgruntling. It was easy to see the way your life could have been if you had stayed in public school in small town Iowa. Although it wouldn't have been glamorous or educating, it would have been home. You and your dad would have been best friends. You could've met the Winchesters sooner. You knew there was a strong possibility that you and Sam could be best friends, even now. And Dean... The possibilities flowed through your head.
"Y/N, you okay?" Sam asked.
He drew your focus back to the scene before you. Crumbs on a plastic plate, the reminisces of a day old donut. Sam had an old hunter's journal spread out. You had zoned out of the conversation, easily distracted by haunted memories of the past that could have been and never will be.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking," you said. You smiled lightly as proof.
"I can't imagine why those two are sleeping for so long. It's nearly lunch time. As nice as it's been to get to know you and see Bobby for a week, I think we've got a case. If Dean's not feeling up to it-" He paused and the two of you laughed.
Dean had been complaining that he was fine and ready to get back on the road, though you all knew that was just talk. He will be back to normal health soon, but his shoulder had been deeply scratched and he had a small limp. You secretly enjoyed taking care of Dean. He pretended to act tough and it was too easy to see through his facade. It was nice to see him put guards down that you hadn't known were there. It was also nice to steal a few kisses here and there.
"I can go check on them," you offered. "And frankly, I'm getting restless as well. I'd be happy to accompany you boys for a while. Check out the nice car, go for a drive."
